Chapter Two: These Are Not The Borg

"Captain, I'm picking up some life signs…ship coming straight for us."

"On screen."

The vessel was a pinprick in space. Janeway could barely make it out.

"Magnify."

The bridge crew stared. The vessel looked Borg-ish, but something was…different about it. It was sleeker. Sort of like a Tactical Cube. It was all Janeway needed.

"Red alert."

Seven woke abrubtly. Her proximity detector had activated. The Borg. She stepped out of her alcove and ordered the computer to beam her to Astrometrics, thinking this more efficient that walking in a crisis. Immidietly upon materializing she called up the ship on screen, then isolated the exact frequncey. She paused and studied the vessel and frequency. She knew that frequency. It was like the Borg's standard, but on a slightly higher bandwidth. It was hidden, but seeing the ship, Seven had her suspicions and searched the exact perameters. This was not what it seemed.

"Seven to Janeway."

"Janeway here. We could use our Borg expert on the bridge."

"These are not the Borg, Captain."

"Explain."

Kim spoke up."They're hailing us."

"Well, maybe you won't need to explain, Seven. Mister Kin, let's hear what they have yo say."
