Disclaimer: Lamentably, I don't own Ned Kelly (or Joe Byrne).

AN: Written for a friend, but I changed the name to Joe's girlfriend, Maggie, in the film to make more sense. You know who you are, sweetie! This is 100 words exactly.

'Leave me alone, Joe,' Maggie pulled away from him. It wasn't just the robberies, it was the other women, all those women.

'They meant nothing,' he murmured. Maggie caught her breath. It was as though he'd read her mind.

'Then, why?' she asked. He was silent. Bitter tears sprang to her eyes. She cursed herself. She would NOT show him she cared. Before she knew it, hands were on her face, rough fingers wiping away her tears.

'They were part of the job,' he whispered 'You're the one I love'

And as he kissed her, she knew it was true.
