Homeless Heart
Looking from both sides of the battlefield, he realized that it was over.
Bodies of dead shinobi - both comrades and enemies - lying on the bloodstained grass with kunai and shuriken sticking in the dirt entered his eyes as he glanced through them. Suddenly, he ran straightforward, ignoring the pain coming from his hands and shoulder. The remaining shinobi who knew him very well gave a knowing look and smiled in a bemusing way - despite the condition and the pain they were feeling - and inwardly gave him their congratulations.
He ignored them, because all he could see was his life flashing through his eyes. The life he used to have, when his most precious person was still near him.
Seeing how they first met…
How their reluctant relationship grew…
How they parted…
Everything he saw, not even noticing the tears forming in his eyes.
He knew after everything is cleared up, the both of them would have problems - considering the fact when the battle started, the dark eyes he adored were in the enemies' side - but he did not care… He will be by his side, and no matter how much time, it heals all wounds.
Forgive and forget, right?
And so, when Uzumaki Naruto stood at least three metres away from Uchiha Sasuke… he finally realized why, despite the fact he found his happiness through his friends, his heart still felt empty and cold, it was because there was one more person who needs to fill it up. And he was standing right in front of him.
Smiling softly and feeling the small breeze that formed, his knees gave up and collapsed, feeling himself falling down through the depths of exhaustion.
Right before sleep claimed him, a pair of arms caught him and a deep, baritone voice was heard by his hearing.
"Hn, dobe…"
How they were going to rebuild the relationship that was clumsily formed by sheer, dumb luck…
Or how they were going to change their future, even though the past has clearly affected the both of them…
Or how even they were going to live peacefully when nightmares and dark recollections were hovering above them…
It did not matter to the both of them because they recognized that time was finally on their side.
They both have forever now.
