In an office, there were two figures. They were sitting opposite of each other and one appeared to be a woman and the other a man.

"Hello Mr. Bauer. I'm Audrey Raines and I'll be interviewing you." She opens a folder and takes out an application. "I see you have worked at CTU for three years. What made you want to get a job here?" She asked.

"Please just call me Jack." He says. "She's cute…but I can't think about this right now." He thought to himself. "I left CTU because…well, that's something I'm not comfortable discussing. The reason I'm looking for a job here is because I think I have enough experience and I still want to serve the government." He smiled.

She pauses as he smiles. His smile melted her heart. She lightly shakes her head telling herself to snap out of it.

"Is everything alright?" he asked with a questioned look. "Huh? Oh, yeah. I'm fine." She replied and lightly coughs. "Uh…continuing with the application, I-" She gets cut off. "I can just fill up the application. I know what to do." He smiles, almost laughing.

"Really? That would be great!" She says. She was actually quite tired and could use a real break. "Thanks" she says softly. "No problem." He replies and fills out the application. He finishes quickly and hands it to her.

"If you're the daughter of the secretary of defense," he notices her mouth open and continues before she could ask her question "I have my resources…continuing, why are you here? Aren't you the senior analyst here?"

"Uh, I'm actually supposed to be on break but I'm helping out my father since we're a bit short-handed today." She answers as she lays her hand on the table and allows her head to lean on it.

"If you're supposed to be on break, what would you say if I offered to take you out?" He grins as he gets up.

"I'd have to say I can buy my own lunch, thanks," he looked down and off to the side "but, I didn't say I wouldn't have lunch with you." She smiles, almost teasingly. She gets up and he looks at her. They both smiled and headed out the door.

While waiting for their food, they talked about multiple things such as his life at CTU and how he was in field ops. They also talked about how her life was with her father being the secretary of defense. He was about to reach for her hand but realized she had a ring on. He frowns and looks down at the table.

"What's wrong?" She noticed his expression changed.

"Are you married?" He simply asked, trying to hide his disappointment. She took off her ring and held it with two fingers.

"Seperated, actually" she replied and tossed the ring into her bag. She smiles, looking at him. He looked up and grinned. He slowly slides his hand towards hers and she sees it. She slides her hand to hold his and they stay like this for the rest of the time. They paid for the lunch and got up. She let go of his hand and looks at her watch.

"Ugh…I have to get back before anyone notices how long I've been gone." She walks faster but is soon blocked by Jack.

"Wait," he says calmly "can we meet again?" His eyes were looking into hers and she couldn't resist. She walks towards him until there was barely a gap. "Yeah." She whispers and holds his hand as she kisses his cheek. She turns and hurries out the door, not letting go until the last second.

As she leaves, he feels something in his palm. He opens his hand and finds a folded piece of paper. He opened it and found a series of numbers…it was her phone number. He smiled, realizing it was the first time in a long time since he felt this way.

Audrey was already heading towards DOD and was minutes away when she received a phone call. "Audrey Raines." She said. "Hey honey." The voice says. "Dad, what is it?" she asks. "There's somewhere here to see you. Come as fast as you can, okay?" he says. "Yeah, I'll get there as fast as I can." She replies, wondering who was waiting for her.
