Frozen Memory
The cold bitter winds ripped through the small house on the borders of the lands of fire and wind. The lone little house seemed cold and empty as if abandoned, but a single light was on, barely visible through the dingy cracked window. The blonde woman who lived there sat on a couch beneath that light fitfully trying to fall asleep. Her hand instinctively going for the side where his picture and a small bottle of his ashes were, "You stupid lazy bastard," she whispered as the tears started to roll from her deep blue eyes.
The button down and sports bra she wore couldn't hide the scar over her heart. That unmistakable symbol she had drawn so long ago. The last thing that joined them now. "My heart to make you whole, its strength to fortify your weakness, its love to keep you strong. I love you Temari," his voice echoed in her head from so very long ago. "Oh Shikamaru," she whispered running her hand over that scar.
She started crying uncontrollably, the shadows from the single light taking on a new form, his form, that tall slender man with the single pony tail on top of his head. The shadows solidified more and more gaining his other traits like his eyes and face until finally they were truly him. "Please don't cry Temari," he whispered to her wrapping his arms around her, gently trying to calm. "Oh, Shikamaru," she said crying into his shoulder. "I love you Temari," he whispered,"I'm always with you," he kissed the top of her head and her neck. "Please stop crying Temari," he continued to whisper to her gently caressing her "please Temari, please"
She looked him in the eyes, "I love you Shikamaru, I love you," she said quietly looking away. He lifted her chin with his hand and kissed her on the lips as he faded away and fell asleep on the couch, her hand on that scar and his face, voice, and name still fresh in her mind.
Her last though as she fell asleep was "I love you Shikamaru, I'll never for get you…."
