Author note: Haha, it's rather amusing to see so much hate towards Madison. DIE AND BURN, BITCH, DIE AND BURN!

I slammed my door as I made my way to my room, cursing under my breath. Did she think she could just barge in here and pretend like she didn't leave Spot? Wait, why was I mad? Or, maybe I'm jealous. I shook that thought away as someone knocked on my door. I sighed in frustration.

"What?" I asked rudely. The door opened and Spot peeked his head into the room.

"Do youse have room for Madison?" he asked, looking down at the row of beds.

"No!" I said, throwing a pillow at him. Spot gave me an odd look as he caught the pillow.

"Yes youse do, look at how many beds youse have in here," he said, laying the pillow on one of the beds.

"I don't have room, and that's that! I am not sharing a room with that thing!" I yelled, loud enough for the world to hear. Spot glared at me as he clenched the cane in his hand.

"Don't talk 'bout Madison like dat!" he yelled back. "Do youse hear me?"

"I don't have to listen to you! I can talk about whoever I want to!" Spot's glare became more intense as he called Madison up to the room. She merrily walked into the room and rested her elbow on Spot's shoulder.

"What is it, Spot?" she asked in a sweet voice. Spot smiled down at her.

"Dis is where youse can stay tonight. I mean, if youse want…Since yer fadder is gonna be busy and all…" Spot blushed as Madison laughed.

"I'd love to stay here!" she said.

"Well too bad, because you can't!" I said. "I share my room with nobody!" Madison's eyes then switched over to me. You know when you get that feeling once you meet someone. Where you know if you're going to like them or not? Well, I got that feeling, and I knew that I was absolutely going to hate Madison!

"Who are you?" she asked in a snobby tone. I crossed my arms over my chest and eyed her.

"The names Sage," I said. Madison looked up at Spot, and then back at me.

"Girls shouldn't be newsies," Madison said, taking Spot's hand into hers.

"What, are we all supposed to be snot-nosed like you?" I asked, smirking. Madison gasped and clenched Spot's hand.

"I am not snot-nosed!" she said. "Unlike you, I have a family who loves me!" I felt anger rise in me, and I could even see worry trace over Spot's face. Madison had a look of "triumph" on her face.

"Actually, I wouldn't really know, since my family is dead!" I said. "But you wouldn't understand. I mean, you have no heart. You left Spot like he was some kind of pebble on the ground. Your family probably hands you some cash and expects you to get out of their hair for the rest of the day!" I shot back, making Madison's face turn red.

Before she could say anything Spot tugged on her hand once he seen the murderous look in my eyes. He probably had the feeling that I was getting ready to kill the little bitch; which I was. Madison glanced back at Spot, and then back at me.

"This room is perfect," she said, giving him a small peck on the lips. I bit my tongue to keep from saying something. "I'll just have to get a change of clothes and some other stuff." Spot nodded and told her to go wait downstairs for him. Once Madison was out the door, he turned to me.

"Lay off 'er!" he said. "She doesn't need dis crap from youse!" I felt something tugging at my fist, tempting me to punch some sense into the boy. The stupid witch had him under her demand, twisted tightly around her crooked finger!

"Gee, thanks best friend, for making me feel oh so special!" I said. I then shoved him out the door and slammed it shut right in his face. I'm pretty sure that pissed him off, and as far as I'm concerned, I didn't really care.

A smile tugged at my lips as an idea came to mind. The little bastard probably thinks she can handle me, but can she handle Scout?

During that day I had walked all the way over to Manhattan, and explained everything to Scout, who was a bit pissed off by the whole "Spot going out with this prissy shit head," as she would say. So I invited her to stay the night in the Brooklyn Lodging House. If Spot could bring his guest in, then I can bring mine!

Scout got a few things to take over to Brooklyn and told Jack where she was going, and why. Jack didn't really find it amusing, but he said, "Go ahead," anyway.

Once Scout and I reached Brooklyn, I could already smell the stench of Madison. Once we reached the Lodging House I could already sense her presence. Scout and I entered; talking about only God knows what. Once we entered and walked past the main room, Spot called for me.

"Sage!" she yelled. I turned around and stood in the doorway with Scout behind me.

"Yes?" I said innocently.

"What is she doin here?" he asked, nodding towards Scout.

"Well, I invited her to stay the night," I said, giving him a fake smile.

"Well, she can't stay!"

"To hell I can't!" Scout defended herself.

"Yeah, if you can invite your girlfriend to stay the night, then I can invite my best friend!" I said. Spot narrowed his eyes, and ignored us. I grinned mischievously at Scout. The both of us crept upstairs and began to make up a "torture plan."

The day went by fast while Scout and I left, and came back, and then left, and came back. Just to annoy her good for nothing "cousin." All of the feelings that I once held for Spot had vanished, and what was left was hatred.

Nighttime crept up without anyone noticing, and the newsies were heading off to bed. The door opened to my room as Scout and I lay in our beds, reading books. The both of us looked up.

"Good night, Spot," Madison said, kissing him. Spot smiled,

"G'night." He gave me a quick glance, and then left. Madison turned around and pursed her lips.

"And who are you?" she asked Scout. Scout tilted her head mockingly and answered,

"Da names Scout. Scout McCoy. But you can call me Scout…like every other person on dis earth," Scout said, trying her best to sound stupid. Madison rolled her eyes and walked over to the bag that lay on her bed.

"Well, Scout, you better not have touched my stuff!" she rummaged through the bag and pulled out a brush, and ran it through her curly hair. Scout raised her eyebrows.

"Dat's odd," she said, closing her book and standing. "Youse jus' said dat ta me, and not Sage." Madison sighed.

"Well, I don't trust street rats like you! Like either of you!" Scout snapped her fingers in front of her face.

"Oh no youse didn't!" she said. I doubled over laughing, clutching my stomach. Scout grinned as Madison rolled her eyes and walked into the washroom.

"Here are the rules," she said, coming back out and staring us down. "One, you don't touch my stuff-"

"Make sure youse take notes, Sage! Be a good student," Scout said. Madison sighed in frustration and continued.

"Two, stay away from Spot!" she said, more or less to me.

"Oh yeah, I wanna make-out with me cousin!" Scout said sarcastically. Madison gave Scout a disgusted look.

"Three, stay out of my face, and we won't have any problems!" Scout raises her hand.

"Uh, why didn't youse put Spot on da list foist? Do youse care 'bout yer stuff more den him?" I gave Scout an amused look and nodded. I stood up and stood beside her. The both of us crossed our arms over our chest and leaned against each other like we were bad asses.

"And now here's our rules," Scout and I said in unison.

"One, stay away from Jacky-boy!" Madison gave us a confused look.

"Who?" she asked.

"Youse will find out soon," Scout said.

"Two, stay out of our stuff," I said.

"And three, don't get in our face, or we'll soak ya!" Scout and I said in unison. Madison turned around and walked into the washroom. Scout and I high-fived and continued reading our books. By the time Madison came out of the washroom, I was already halfway finished with my book. Which…was a children's book…but I could do better! If I tired. It was better than what Scout was reading; her book was only three pages long! And she still wasn't done!

Madison was wearing a night dress, and her hair was wet. She gave us a prissy look before slipping under the covers of her reserved bed.

"So, Sage," Scout started. "How's it been livin with me cousin and da other boys?"

"Well Scout, it's been a bit tough, but I manage," I said, matching her loud tone.

"Really now, dat's interesting."

"Yup, how is it living with Jack?"

"Same as always," Scout said, flipping the page of her three-paged book.

"What, you mean chaotic?" I asked. Scout grinned.

"O'course, it wouldn't be anythin it if weren't chaotic!" Madison groaned.

"Will you two shut up? I'm trying to sleep!" she said.

"Nah," Scout said, waving her hand in Madison's direction. "So Sage, youse like apples?"

"Yeah, apples are very healthy and won't make you fat," I said, looking in Madison's direction.

"Abracadabra!" Scout then pulled two apples out of her pocket and tossed me one. I bit into the apple, and once I did I heard scratching at my door.

"Oh my God," I said, getting to my feet and running to the door. "I forgot about Chance!" I opened the door and Chance ran in.

"Puppy!" Scout shrieked as Chance jumped up on Madison's bed, and began to bark. Madison looked over the sheets and began to scream her lungs out.

"Oh my God, get it away, get it away!" she screamed, pushing herself away from Chance. Scout couldn't hold it in anymore. She fell on the floor and burst out laughing. The door to my room swung open, and once again, I went flying to the ground.

"I hate that damn door!" I said, pushing myself to my feet.

"What's goin on in here?" Spot asked, fire in his eyes. He looked as if he had been sleeping, and was all of a sudden woken up. I glanced over at Scout who was still on the floor, wiping the tears from her eyes. Spot then noticed a frightened Madison.

"Matthews, youse get dat dog outta here right now!" Spot said, walking towards the dog. I immediately stepped in front of him to block him from getting to Chance.

"You touch him Conlon and I'll kick you where you don't want to be kicked!" I warned.

"Then get tha little demon away from 'er!" Scout looked surprised at the way Spot was acting towards me.

"Come here Chance," I said, my eyes never leaving Spot. Chance jumped down from the bed and sat beside my leg.

"If he causes anymore trouble den he's goin back in da streets!" Spot said. I gave Spot a look of hatred.

"If you kick him out, then you'll have to kick me out too," I said. Spot crossed his arms over his chest.

"Fine, if dats what I hafta do, den I'll do it!"

"I hate you!" I said. Spot flinched, and stared down at me in disbelief. I turned around and walked over to my bed, Chance following every move. Spot watched me with hurt in his eyes. He looked over at Madison who looked as if she just saw a ghost.

"Youse okay?" he asked with less interest. Madison nodded and watched Spot leave. After about another hour, Scout and I turned in.

The next morning I awoke to something falling. I jolted up in my bed, and looked over at where the noise came from. Madison was standing beside my desk, and a book was at her feet. She was looking at something. I squinted my eyes to adjust my vision. There was a piece of paper in her hands, and she seemed to be highly interested in what it said. I then noticed an empty envelope on the desk. She was reading my letters!

She, somehow, didn't notice that I was awake. I stood to my feet and walked towards her. She turned around and looked shocked.

"Rule two," I said. "Stay out of my stuff!" I then brought my fist back and it collided with her nose. I didn't even try to go easy on her. I heard a "pop" and cringed. Madison brought her hands to her nose, and her hands were instantly stained with blood. I picked up my letters and shoved them in my pockets. I turned on my heel and walked downstairs, ignoring her crying and her call for help.

Scout was standing in the foyer.

"What is she whinin 'bout?" she asked.

"I punched her." I said it like it was no big deal.

"Aw man! And youse didn't wait for me?" I grinned and opened the door. The two of us walked out, and made our way to the distribution center. We bought our papes and began to sell.

"Sage!" I heard a familiar voice. I turned around and grinned at Splinter.

"Hey Splinter!" I said. Splinter smiled.

"Scout said youse might need some help?"

"What?" I asked. Splinter then looked to the side, and the two of us saw a furious looking Spot storming our way. Before I could say anything, Splinter pulled me towards him, and before I knew it we were kissing. Spot stopped dead in his tracks as he watched with disbelief.

Gee, I bet I look like a whore.

Next Chapter: Splinter and Sage pretend to be a couple, just to make Spot jealous.

Why should Spot be jealous, he has Madison? She's perfect, right?

Spark explains to Spot that he "wants" Madison, but he "needs" Sage.

Author note: Ack, I didn't mean to make that sound gross up there! Anyways, we're all going to gather an angry mob against Madison! LONG LIVE…SAGE! WHOO!
