Author note: I apparently live on the computer, lol. Yeah, I just saw "Saw 2" and it scared the living hell outta me…very gruesome.
I looked around as I remembered the scene in my dream. I held on tightly to Spot's hand as we stood there, watching. I felt Spot release my hand, but I grabbed it again.
"No, Spot, you can't," I tried to explain.
"Youse need ta get outta here, Sage. Go to a safer place!" Spot told me. He then pulled the cane out of his belt loop.
"No Spot, you don't understand!" but before I could explain Spot was out of sight. Somebody was pulling me away from him, and he didn't seem to notice as he began to fight with a larger man.
"Let me go!" I screamed at my capturer. I brought my elbow into their stomach, and I was released. I turned around and gave the man an uppercut and he went backwards. I turned back around and tried to see if I could find Spot. I called his name, but got no response.
I felt fear rise in me as I decided to look for Scout. I didn't have the chance to call for her because a bunch of my uncle's men began to crowd around me.
"Do we kill her?" one asked.
"I dunno, I think Bryan wants to kill her," another said. I was then grabbed by my arms and dragged.
"Stop it!" I screamed. I couldn't take this anymore! These people just wouldn't stop! I quickly stomped on the man's toes, and he began to hop around in pain. I pushed through people to get away from the men, but they were everywhere! There were at least more of my uncle's men than there were newsies.
I couldn't let Spot die, I just couldn't! I ducked as a fist flew in my direction.
"Damn it!" I cursed. I kicked the man in the stomach and he made an "oof" sound. Everything was going crazy! If everyone would just freeze for a couple of minutes and let me find Spot, then everything would be okay!
"Spot!" I called, hoping that he's be able to hear me. Everyone seemed to be ignoring me as I ran through the fight. Surely my uncle and father came rushing out here with the rest of their idiots. Why would my father do this to me? It's just money!
I put my hands to my ears and screamed in aggravation. If Spot would've just listened to me! The stubborn ass!
I began to step backwards, but ended up running into someone. I twirled around, ready to fight, but was relieved when I saw a familiar face.
"Skip!" I said. Skip stared at me for a second before yelling "Duck!" I did as I was told and was thankful as I resisted a man's punch. Skip immediately attacked him, and sent him down.
"Are youse alright?" Skip asked.
"Yeah, where's Spot? He has to get out of here?"
"I dunno, but youse need ta get outta here!" Skip yelled as he knocked another guy out. I blocked a punch and sent a man to the ground. I have to remember to thank Spot for the training.
"I can't leave," I shouted back. "This is all my fault and I have to fix it!"
"Quit bein stubborn and get outta here!" He yelped as someone pushed me and I fell onto the ground. Skip was being outnumbered as he fought furiously. The men then brought him to the ground and began to beat him with whatever weapons they had.
I gasped and shuffled to my feet.
"Leave him alone!" I screamed as I tried pulling the men away from him. Nothing happened. I then began to beat on their backs with the palms of my hands. I knew it wouldn't affect them, but it was worth a try. I looked around and spotted a club on the ground. I quickly picked it up and whacked one of the men in the back of the head.
I tried doing this to the rest of the men, which only made then angrier, so they decided to gang up on me.
I glanced over at Skip who looked like nothing but a pile of blood, and then back at the men. I tightened my grasp on the club and hit one of the men in the side of the head as he lunged at me. The other men glared at me as I felt someone grab my arms from behind. I dropped the club and struggled to get away.
Think Sage, think! What are their weaknesses…They're men…so... I quickly brought my foot back and kicked the man, and he went down in pain. I moved out of the way as he lay on the ground, groaning in pain.
I then began to smell smoke, and turned around. One of the shops blazed with dancing fire. No, this couldn't be happening.
I looked around me, and saw that there were unconscious bodies everywhere. Those of newsies, and my uncle's men. Everything seemed to be slowing down, but the blaze of the fire increased in size.
Water, we need water! Yeah, not like it's just going to appear out of nowhere. I backed up as somebody nearly fell on me. It was Art!
"Art!" I shrieked. I got to my knees and stared down at him. He was still awake, but seemed to be in pain.
"Get outta here," Art said, trying to push himself to his feet. Where were the policemen? I shook my head and looked back at Art.
"Where is Spot?" I asked. Art gave me a confused look as I helped him to his feet.
"I ain't seen 'em," he said. He then resumed fighting as I continued worrying. I then spotted someone…walking right in the middle of the fight, untouched.
"Uncle Bryan," I whispered to myself. His eyes scanned the fight, probably for me. One of his men was at his side, and he whispered something to him. The man whispered back.
I stepped back against a shop and felt the wall. The fight before me was intense, and giving me a headache. Someone's going to die… I said in my head. Something was different, though. Extremely different.
I watched my uncle as he swiftly pulled a knife out of his jacket. An image of Spot's lifeless body in my dream came to mind. The wound…he was stabbed. And just like I had expected, Uncle Bryan was walking right towards Spot.
"No," I whispered. Spot's back was turned to my uncle, but my uncle was still a bit further away. I froze as I watched Spot bring one man down, and then go to fighting another; oblivious of what was about to happen.
Just like magic my feet began to move. At first it was just a fast walk, and then my legs moved faster and faster until I was running. I pushed people out of my way as my uncle inched closer and closer to Spot.
Uncle Bryan seemed to avoid people with ease, unlike me who kept running into them. Beads of sweat trickled down my face as I tried to hurry. I can't let my dream come true, I just can't! I'd never forgive myself if something happened to him.
I was closer to Spot now, and right when I was close enough, someone grabbed me from behind.
"No!" I screamed, kicking furiously. Spot turned around to see what was wrong, and his eyes went wide as he seen my uncle with the knife.
Everything seemed to go in slow motion as I pushed the man away from me and ran for Spot's life. Closer, closer…
I rammed my shoulder into Spot who fell to the ground. He stared up as the knife my uncle held deeply impaled my stomach. The world seemed to stop as my body went numb, and the fight before me went in a slower motion. Things became dizzy as I clutched the knife in my stomach and stumbled backwards.
Someone's going to die… I thought as my back came in contact with the ground. I don't think I've ever felt this much pain in my whole life. I closed my eyes briefly, and when I opened them I saw my life flash before my eyes.
My childhood played in my mind, and everyone's death seemed to be popping up more. The whole time I could see something in the background, but I couldn't quite make it out. I was a person, but whom?
I then felt someone's hand on my stomach, and felt something tug at the knife. I let out a whimper as I looked over at who it was.
Spot stared down at me in disbelief and shock. He wasn't dead, but someone's going to die.
The world then went back into its regular pace, and I heard the screaming and fighting. The pain in my stomach then increased.
"Hold on," I heard Spot's voice. It sounded a bit creaky, but I wasn't too sure.
Audience P.O.V
Scout hit somebody over the head with a club and congratulated herself. She grinned and fixed her gaze on something else. Her grin soon faded as she saw Spot kneeling beside a body.
Scout lowered the club to the ground and let it drop as she ran over to Spot's side. She felt her heart pound against her chest as she stared down at Sage. There was a knife in her stomach, and she seemed to still be awake.
Spot didn't know what he was doing. He wanted so bad to get a doctor, but if he left her then she might die. He grasped his hand around the knife.
"Don't pull it out!" Scout said from behind him. She then went over to the other side of Sage and stared down at her. She could feel tears brimming her eyes as she glanced up at Spot. Something about him made her take a second glance.
Spot's face was stained with tears. Scout stared in amazement as her "cousin" let more tears fall from his eyes.
"We hafta get it outta there," Scout finally said. Spot looked up at her quickly and then placed his hands back onto the knife. "Carefully," Scout whispered. Spot closed his eyes as he slightly pulled on the knife. Sage whimpered as Scout tried to hold her down.
Spot pulled a bit more on the knife and it soon came fully out. The wound looked deep, and Scout quickly pressed her hand down on it.
Normal P.O.V
The pain in my stomach increased wildly as someone pulled the knife out. I was too dizzy to know what was going on, and I could feel myself slipping away.
Why wasn't anyone going to get a doctor? My eyelids began to close slightly as I felt like sleeping. Sleep…sounded peaceful. Just for five minutes, it won't be long. I closed my eyes and felt someone grasp my hand.
"Don't close yer eyes," I heard a male's voice. Was it still Spot? I couldn't tell. My breathing became slower and slower as someone clutched my hand tighter.
I have to close my eyes. Five minutes, just give me five minutes! I was pretty much aware of the fight going on around me, but where was my uncle? Surely he'd want my body for proof of my death. He's a coward!
I tried to block out the pain, but the numbness in my body seemed to help. I was no longer able to move my fingers, not that I needed to.
Someone's going to die… I thought before my eyelids closed and I was surrounded by darkness.
Author note: The end…I'm just kidding! Well, Spot didn't die, and you guys didn't want Spot to die… so I went for the next best thing. Lol, I'm not gonna tell you what happens next 'cause that's a surprise. Anyhow, I know this was short, but whatever. Bye.
