Summary: Rose contemplates her feelings for the new Doctor. Set after 'The Christmas Invasion'

Author's notes: I know the 'Rose coming to terms with the new Doctor' thing has been done several times before but I felt to understand the characters more I needed to write my own interpretation of it. It's only short so it shouldn't be too horrible to read another one :p

Rose watched the Doctor as he worked with a broken TARDIS control. He took the lever off, paused to think and then began staring into where it had been taken off. The same yet different. He was still the Doctor but yet…not. He acted like her Doctor, to a degree, but spoke and moved so differently. She had still wanted to come with him of course, but still found it hard to come to terms with the fact that they were the same person. And of course her feelings for the last doctor made the whole situation even more complex. Were they meant to just shift from him to the person now standing in front of her? Or did she have to gradually move on from him and accept the new Doctor as she found him? Things had suddenly gotten so much more complex.

The Doctor stood with a look of complete concentration on his face as he continued his work, not noticing Rose watching him. It would be east to fancy him, she thought, as he leant over the controls. She had quickly taken to his charm and his grin always made her smile back but she always felt a pang of guilt, like she was betraying his memory, no matter how impossible that may be, considering they were one and the same.

The Doctor replaced the lever and pushed it up. The TARDIS hummed to life.

"Ha!" he said.

"Working?"

He turned to face her. "Finally. That crash land did nothing for it."

"That'll teach you."

The Doctor grinned. "So, where to now?"

It will always be the same, Rose realised, looking into the Doctor's new eyes and seeing exactly the same sense of adventure that had drawn her to him in the first place. The feelings will stay the same, even if it did take some adjustment. She smiled back.

"Barcelona."
