"I've never seen you smile so much, big brother!" Jasmine beamed as she lead Wolfwood by the hand through the familiar halls of the December Orphranage. She should be older, he thought distantly, but then again, I should be younger.

So he said: "Well, I've changed."

"Hmph. Auntie Melanie says men only change when they fall in love." Jasmine pouted, and her fingers tightened around his hand, "And barely at that-" and the smile was back, "Hey, big brother? Did you fall in love?"

Wolfwood closed his eyes and nodded gently, "Of course I did." and proceeded to tell her all about Vash the Stampede.

Somewheres, in the middle of nowheres, Nicholas D. Wolfwood snapped awake and stared at the empty sky above him. Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, he shakily lit a cigarette and laughed so hard he nearly cried.
