End of an Era
Cephied Variable
"One hundred and fifty six years. That's impressive... for a human." Filia only shuddered slightly (as much as she hated to admit it, she'd gotten used to this particular aura) before spinning on her heel to regard Xellos, standing with his arms spread congenially, a staff clutched in one hand and a deceptive smile on his face. His eyes blinked open slyly, as unnaturally colored and slitted as any demon's, "Lina Inverse was a woman eternally blessed and admired by the dark lords." there was a hint of mocking in his tone, perhaps a little sarcasm and an inexplicable wealth of reverence and affection. She was about to argue with him when she realized that there wasn't much denying it- the Lord of Nightmares herself had seen fit to lend Lina her powers. Lina was a paradoxial creature, constantly walking the path of evil magic for the greater good.
"Why are you here?" Filia asked weakly.
The eyes fell shut and the smile returned, "Why, my dear Filia!" he began dramatically, "We two are the last of Lina's loyal "Slayers". I have simply come to witness the end of an era!"
"Her last words before falling into a coma were 'That moron didn't even have the courtesy to wait for me. He'd better not have eaten all the steak in heaven.'" Filia supplied. Normal, almost predictable words. Xellos frowned and curled a fist beneath his chin in contemplation.
"Heaven? Such meager aspirations. I'm afraid the Gods have much greater things in mind for Lina Inverse."
Filia supposed that it was simply his way of saying that he was fond of her too.
