"Remind me again, Fullmetal," Roy began slowly, leafing through women's shirts like he would the pages of a book, "Why I am searching through a women's fashion store instead of taking my well deserved lunch break?"

"I told you." Ed growled impatiently, holding two necklaces up to the light as if attempting to determine the exact measurements of each compound involved, "Winry's birthday is coming up. Usually I just buy her tools or something, but this year Al absolutely insisted I buy her something... 'girly'." a snort, "And he refused to help me pick something out."

Roy pursed his lips and let the heavy row of shirts collapse in a flurry of silk and color, "And remind me again what exactly this has to do with me?"

Ed made an aggravated sigh and turned to shoot Roy an irritated glare, "Since you seem to be the local expert on a 'woman's fancy', I figured you'd be the next best person to go to. Don't you know what kind of things women want for their birthday?"

Roy shrugged lazily, eyeing the clock on the far wall, "Unfortunately, birthday gifts are a rather induvidual matter, Fullmetal. Usually I simply go with chocolate and roses."

Ed's face fell, "Chocolate and roses?"

Roy nodded, "I thought even boys your age knew that chocolate and roses are the fastest way to a woman's heart."

Ed rolled his eyes and muttered something like, 'how trite' under his breath before stating, in an overloud voice: "I wouldn't know. I like men." and turning back to the task at hand.

Roy blinked and took a mental note (that was certainly interesting), once again pushing and pulling the colorful shirts across the rack as if shifting their position would somehow make them more visually appealing.

"Older men." Ed added after a moment.

"Mmm." Roy replied prolifically.

"How do you get so many women," Ed grumbled, back turned, "If you can't even take a goddamn hint?"
