He runs forward, chased by the usual demons. The darkness, as usual, is absolute. I watched, waiting…also, as usual. He'd call eventually; he always did. He liked to try first, though. I think he wanted to prove that he didn't need me, that we were equals. It's really kind of endearing.
He seems to think I mind being the stronger of us. I don't know why, but for some reason, he got it in our head that I should despise him for being weak. Oh, well. One of these days, maybe I'll manage to convince him that it doesn't really matter. We are the same person, after all.
Oh, there they go again. Of all the things to have nightmares about…the Box Ghost? I mean…really. The Box Ghost. He has nightmares about the Box Ghost. I mean, I get it. It's a manifestation of his fears of weakness, but still.
Wow! We've been hanging around Jazz for just way too long.
Okay, here's where he usually calls me…Well, what do you know? He did it! Couldn't have done better, myself. Man, I love that smile…Hey! Behind you!
Oh, come on! Call me, already! I don't like sitting on the sidelines! I promise, you don't have anything to prove to me. Just let me help.
Please.
He's running towards me again. I swear, there are times I have no idea what he's thinking. There's a thought there, but darn if I get it. I don't even think he gets it.
Hey, he got away, again…maybe he doesn't need me…maybe that's what he's been trying to prove to me all this time…
Don't look at me like that, please. Just say what you mean because I don't get it. You say you needed to get this far, but I could have come to you. So why-
…
…I do love that smile…
…so that's why…I get it now.
Of course, I love you, too.
