The Little Things She Loves
I was tired and frustrated at Cam. He made a bad choice in the field by not talking over a plan with the rest of the team. Went off and almost got us killed twice. While I was ranting on about Cam, my mind kept comparing him to Jack.
Jack.
Man, I miss him. A lot now, having lived off and on with the man for the past month or two and before that seeing him every day. I hadn't seen him in two weeks - that was getting a bit too long for me. I didn't want to be the girlfriend who couldn't live without seeing Jack. But all the things he kept from the team and the SGC when they were SG-1 and now knowing them made the man even better. Even more lovable if that's possible. My mind started to list the new things that made Jack even better than he was before.
He can cook. More than the charred meat with beer, he can cook very well. He can make food that seems straight from Italy or India. Anything he makes, if he wants to, he can make perfectly. The only reason he always chars the meat or uses beer is when he isn't thinking about the food, his mind is far off thinking about how he could have done something or planning missions.
The fact that even though the man is in his fifties, he acts like a seven year old. In that he loves video games. The game-boy at base, or yo-yo in his desk, only leads to the fact that he owns every gaming system on the market. All of them. He also has all the fighting games, racing games, and killing games he can get his hands on, for each system. The man is a child with gray hair.
He's very smart. Not as smart as I am, but his IQ is only a few points off of Daniel's. Daniel doesn't know that. He has a large selection of books from comics to Steven Hawking novels. Many books about war and tactics. The man is not the box of rocks he comes off as.
He also has this thing about watching me sleep. He always goes to sleep after he sees me fall asleep and is always waiting for me when I wake up. It's really nice - like he's making sure I'm okay before himself. Then again he's always done that. But then it was his motto, now he just wants to, I guess.
My favorite thing of all - he's a romantic.
Yes, Jack O'Neill is a romantic. He always knows how to make a dinner really special and even though he's lousy with words he can show so much emotion in other things. His kiss, his touch, the way he presents himself. He cares about how I would react, if I would like it, how it would come across, even down to where the flowers and candles were to make the scene more romantic.
He may be the Head of Homeworld Security and a Major General, but that man I love can't come close to how much I love Jack. Just being Jack.
