Lament of a lovelorn bounty hunter
By vivi scarlett-sedai
Green
eyes stare into brown
Is
she scared? A little
His
gaze is so intense
"I'm
not going out there to die"
He
says, "I'm gonna see if I'm alive"
She's
scared, she knows
That
he is wrong
She
wants to stop him
But
she's not sure how
She
wants to say, don't follow her,
There
are no real angels
How
do you know SHE'S real?
Wants
to say, I'm scared for you
And
Please don't leave me
You're
all I have
But
the words are trapped inside
And
he leaves
Not
to see her tears
Never
to see her cry for him
And
the most important things go unsaid
She
never said, I love you all
And,
This is my home
Never
confessed what makes a lonely place
Where
she belongs
A
father, a sister
And
a green-haired young man
And
the sweet lost girl
With
the wide emerald eyes and violet hair
Is
lost once more
Retreating
onto safer ground
In
a masquerade
To
pretend she doesn't care
Hoping
he'll come back,
Even
if he brings Her
Even
if he isn't hers
Even
if he never was
This
enigmatic man with the strange hazel eyes
Even
if he brings back a beautiful, perfect angel
That
a mere human cannot hope to compete with
And
she'll fall back into her role as his joking rival
The
Kid's big sister,
The
woman he can't understand
She'll
be happy with that
If
she must
To
argue with him
>If
she can't say she loves him
To
get into fights
If
she can't hold him close
To
steal his cigarettes
If
she can't confess her love
Just
so long as he comes home safe tonight
And
doesn't see her cry
She
doesn't care what he thinks of her
So
long as he's alright
So
please, if there's anyone out there in the light,
Bring
my love home safe tonight
