Title: Baking a cake…the muggle way

Disclaimer: I do not own anything related to Harry Potter

Summary: Ginny tries to bake a cake for Harry on Valentine's Day…

Author's Note: Hey! This is my second Harry and Ginny fanfic. I wanted to write some fluff for Valentine's Day, and well here it is! Hope you enjoy it. It is a really short one-shot, but I promise that the sequel to "Just Letters" will be longer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------There was no way she could do this. She was sure that she would have nightmares about this later on. She was pretty sure she would not survive. The horror was just too much. Baking a cake for Harry on Valentine's Day was definitely the hardest thing she had ever done in her life.

She had racked her brain all week trying to think of the perfect present for her "perfect" boyfriend. After plenty of migraines she had come up with the idea of a chocolate cake in the shape of a heart, fully aware of Harry's sweet tooth. The idea had seemed lovely at the time, but now…Now she wanted to drown herself in the mix or rip her eyes with the batter.

She needed to resist the urge to whip out her wand and bake the damn thing the magic way but she knew it would not be the same. She had set herself the challenge to make it the muggle way and by Merlin's help she was going to finish the damn thing the muggle way. Even it the kitchen now looked like the aftermath of a candy volcano eruption. She did not even want to look at herself in a mirror. She had a mild suspicion that the kitchen looked spotless in comparison with her appearance. She felt as if she were a walking cake. She longed for a hot bath but right now she had to focus on finishing the evil cake.

When she finally managed to get the mix inside the mold, luck went against her one more time and the plate fell splattering the floor.

She did the whole thing all over again, and was finally able place the mold inside the oven. She decided to rest for awhile on the couch, she was so tired. She cleaned herself a bit and lay down. At some time she dozed off but was woken up by a strong smell of something burning. She checked the clock and was alarmed to find that it was three hours later! She rushed into the kitchen to take the poor, black cake out of the oven.

She opened the oven door but was surprised to find there was nothing inside. She heard someone chuckling and turned around to find Harry throwing away the remains of the cake.

"Harry…I was…" she was too surprised to state something coherent.

"Baking a Valentine's cake?" he asked with a smile.

"How did you know?" she wondered if she was still dreaming.

He walked towards her and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Your black block was in the shape of a heart. By the way, next time you should try to add the frosting after it is cooked." He was trying not to laugh but it was in vain. "Need help?" He dropped a peck on her lips.

After regaining her breath and finding her voice her eyes lighted up as she said, "Please!"

Harry smiled as he hugged her and answered, "Let's get to it then."

Years later Ginny would always remember this as one of the best Valentine's Day ever. She did not remember ever laughing so much while cooking. She was surprised they got everything done, between all the kisses and jokes.
