Prologue
Stephanie McMahon tried to make herself comfortable on her couch to no avail. Even though it was four days after her fight with Sable at Vengeance, the wounds inflicted on her sternum by her father's hired gun, A - Train were still painfully evident every time she moved her upper body even an inch. Thankfully she didn't break her sternum, nor any ribs as a result of A - Train's actions. She would love to fire the asshole. Too bad her father would just rehire him if she did.
Her father. It was obvious that her father no longer cared about anybody but himself. He would rather cavort with a woman who once tried to sue him for sexual harassment and side with the man that nearly killed her mother with a tombstone than take care of the woman who had married him and bore him two children. Stephanie knew that a lot of people said she was very much like Vince McMahon, and certainly there were a lot of times in the last few years where she certainly lived up to the mantle of "Daddy's Little Girl," she wondered now if that was even remotely the case. If father and daughter were so far apart that all she could feel was disgust for the man.
She received a call from her Mom asking if she was all right, despite the fact that the older woman was dealing with a strained neck courtesy of Kane. That was another thing making Stephanie furious: Her father should be home taking care of Linda, his wife, instead of squiring around his latest whore. Especially one that sued the company once before for sexual harassment.
'Is that your way to keep Rena Mero from suing dad? Sleeping with her?' It disgusted Stephanie. The only good thing to come out of this situation was the closeness that was reestablished between Stephanie and Linda. The bond between them was almost as close as it had been before Stephanie married Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
Checking her watch, Stephanie noted that SMACKDOWN had been over for almost a half hour. She should be receiving word anytime now that her plan to wrest control of SMACKDOWN was underway. Suddenly the phone rang.
"Hello?" Stephanie answered.
"Hey, Steph," the man on the other end of the line greeted the General Manager of SMACKDOWN. "I'd have called earlier but - "
"It's all right," Stephanie assured the man. "I know how Dad operates. The more he thinks you're legitimately on his side, the less paranoid he'll be."
"Yeah well it better be fast, because SummerSlam is coming up fast," the man told her.
Stephanie sighed. "Yeah I know Brock. Let's hope nothing goes wrong between now and then. How's Kurt?"
"Okay," Brock Lesnar replied, "a little sore, but I made sure as best I could that there was nothing more than that."
"Good," Stephanie said, relieved. "Brock, be careful okay? I want to get back at my father, but I don't want you or Kurt hurt."
"We will," Brock assured his boss. "Gotta go. Bye Steph."
"Bye," Stephanie whispered hanging up her phone. Her plan had been set in motion.
She just prayed disaster was not around the corner.
More soon.
