Supernova
Angst, Mac POV, Mac/Stella
She falls into you
one
He's not good enough for you—
And what, you are? Is that what you're telling me?
(And how did we get here?)
She's tired, and a little angry, but not so much, and what worries you more, the anger or the lessening of it, the way she turns her head to one side and stops fighting? Stella Bonasera was a fortress you invaded and where are the battlements now?
Get out.
Stell—
Just get out.
two
She falls into you like a train wreck, and then there's juniper and gin all down your white shirt, and a thousand apologies tumbling from her mouth, lips so wide and genial; and this pretty little girl falls in, takes a seat centre stage in your life, and she lights up for you, your little star; your Stella.
three
The only thing you've ever known was how to break the things you love, and all stars fade out eventually, burn up with passion and explode, supernova. The biggest stars pull in the world around them, collapsing in on themselves, imploding catastrophically. And she falls into you, already broken, and you try to heal the dying star, but you can't, because she was gone before you met her.
Stella, I—
I'm sorry, I need you, I love you
—don't know what to say to you.
Then don't say anything, and she presses forward, finger on your lips, hand on your chest and then a kiss, so real, so Stella. The contact burns like a white flame; she's pulling you in, she's already gone.
No, Stella—not like this…
And then she's gone; burnt out. Supernova. Black hole.
fin.
