Ulrich looked over at Yumi who was sitting on the bench looking depressed. She had been once again been let down and hurt by William.
They had both agreed a couple of months ago that they did like each other but was afraid of ruining their friendship so they agreed to date other people and continue to be the best friends that they were. However this did not exactly work out. They soon began to distance themselves from one another and eventually stopped talking except for the occasional 'hi' in the hall when passing.
Ulrich knew that Yumi had been hurt and let down by Theo and William over and over again and he himself had been hurt by users like Emily and Sissy. Ulrich had begun to hate relationships and distanced himself from girls' part from Aelita of course.
When he heard from Odd that Yumi had caught William in bed with Sissy, he had grown angry. He knew he loved Yumi but he knew Yumi didn't think anyone could love her, he was about to change this. He made himself known to Yumi and started playing his guitar and singing gently:

Yumi just sat there; shocked at the song that Ulrich had clearly made for the both of them. She looked around her and realised that everyone was standing still watching the serenade. She stopped the face that had hurt so much along with the tart she had found him with and realised that she was thankful to him or else Ulrich would probably have never done this.
She herself knew that Ulrich had been hurt. On many an occasion she had heard from Odd about how Ulrich had had his heart crushed again. She had seen girls make a laughing stock of him just to look big in front of their mates.
She knew this was right. She knew it was time for them to be together.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and felt his wrap around her waist. She whispered the words: 'There's room in my heart for you' and captured him in a passionate meaningful kiss.
All around them friendly laughter and applauds erupted.
"About time you know you two, I'd sort of gave up when you stopped talking" Odd laughed wrapping his arms around them.
"Yumi we can double date now!" Aelita cheered with Jeremie beside her smiling his head off.
"Aelita I'm sure they'd want their first date to be alone" Jeremie winked at them.
They both laughed but what surprised them the most was what happened next, William and Sissy walked towards them; hand in hand. They both obviously had the same idea as William slapped Yumi and Sissy slapped Yumi too.
Immediately a fight broke out, Ulrich had punched William to the floor while Aelita had pulled Sissy's extensions out while Odd and Jeremie had poured their blackcurrant drinks all down her white summer dress.
Yumi broke Ulrich and Sissy apart while Sissy ran off screaming. William ran off after Sissy while the others just laughed.
"Well that was a day to remember" laughed Odd.
