Roy couldn't help but smiles with victory, all those months of hard work had finally paid off.
Edward was holding hands with him. Correction Edward was actually letting him hold his hand. There was a difference, Edward had to be one of the most fickle people when it came to displays of affection. In fact Edward tried to avoid the question by just saying no and making a big scene over it.
Which really encouraged Roy to not want to ask the question ever again.
However, Roy knew from experience that the blond alchemist could be convinced to do something given enough time. Roy happened to convince all the patience in the world.
Roy had planned to ask again in a couple of weeks but one thing lead to another and he never ended up asking.
When Roy finally did get around to asking it, had been six months.
The question had caught Edward of guard of all the things the blond had been it was quite clear that he hadn't thought of that question as a possibility.
This didn't faze Roy. After all, surprise was one of his best tactics.
Edward had the ability of surprise as a use as well, Edward at times could be extremely predictable but at others be a total surprise.
Times like this. A slight blush-covered Ed's cheeks as he looked at Roy's hand. Which was something Roy had never thought he have the pleasure of ever seeing in this lifetime.

After a couple moments, Edward seemed to accept Roy's offer much to the flame alchemist's delight. Never did Roy think that Edward would become so fond of him that a simple thing like holding hands would have such a effect on the blond.
"Don't think I'll be holding hands with you in the office or anywhere else for that matter."
Roy raised an eyebrow. "But you'll hold my hand while were in the house? Are you practicing for when we hold hands in public?"
Edward narrowed his amber eyes and glared at Roy. "Why would I need to practice? Holding hands isn't that difficult!"
Roy just grinned, the grin that Edward found so annoying. "Well that's what it looks like to be Edward"
Edward ripped his hand out of Roy's hands and curled both of his hands at his sides and growled. "I can't stand you."
Roy who had heard it all before, just kept grinning.
