A/N: I decided to change the first chapter. The chapter that was the first chapter before is going to be used later, I think. I know this is really short, but I thought it was a good place to end the chapter.

Shigure sat at his desk, working on his latest book. He thought he heard a noise at the front door, but dismissed it as a figment of his imagination. The rain continued to pound on the roof as he paused to think. Then he heard a noise that he realized was caused by the door opening. He looked over, and was horrified to see Rin kneeling there, on her hands and knees, drenched in rain and blood.

She sat there for a few moments while Shigure stared, frozen. Then she slumped down to the ground. Shigure jumped up, ran over to her, and rolled her over onto her back. She had a gash on her left shoulder, blood was coming from somewhere on her head, and she had various cuts all over the rest of her.

"That rotten... son of... a bitch..." Rin mumbled before passing out.

Kyo, Tohru, and Yuki walked home from school. Tohru was being her usual cheerful self, Yuki was in a slightly less serious mood than usual, and Kyo was irritable because of the rain. As they reached the house, all three of them got the same eerie feeling.

"Something's not right here," Yuki said seriously. Tohru's eyes were as big as plates.

Suddenly, Kyo took off running towards the house. Yuki and Tohru looked at each other, then ran after him. They caught up just as he threw the door open. But nothing was there that was out of the ordinary.

"Shigure?" Yuki called out. The three of them stepped inside. Tohru shrieked and clapped her hand over her mouth.

"What?" Kyo asked urgently. Tohru pointed at the floor with her free hand. When the boys looked, they realized that there was a trail of blood on the floor, leading into the hallway.

"Shigure?" Yuki asked again, more cautiously this time. They walked into the hallway as Shigure stepped out of the spare bedroom that they had finally added on.

There was a huge sigh of relief. "Aww, you were that worried about me? I'm flattered!" Shigure exclaimed.

Yuki rolled his eyes. "What's with all the blood?"

"Oh. Yeah. Rin's in the spare room."
