When he sleeps he dreams of blood, fire, darkness, and…love.
When he sleeps he dreams of what they had, and what they almost had.
When he sleeps he dreams of being held in a loved one's arms as they watch the darkness consume everything.
When he sleeps he dreams of Bakura.
He is scared to dream, because it means he must remember. It hurts to remember that he lost everything he loved in one fell swoop. It hurts to remember that he lost Bakura.
Ryou is scared to sleep, dream, and remember, so he doesn't.
