Synopsis: In answer to Silverhammer's Question, Would he or wouldn't he? Would Bill Maxwell send a Valentine?
Setting: Bill, Ralph and Pam at a Mall. Pam goes into a card store…
--------------------------------
"Davidson, do we have to go into this store, honey?"
"Bill, you don't have to go in, but I'd like to get a gift for Ralph's mom!" She glided into the large store away from Bill's view.
"Aw! C'mon! Ralph! Ralph! Where're ya goin'…?"
Ralph had darted into Science-A-Rama for some class room projects, stranding Bill among heart and gingham-covered displays. Unconsciously he felt for his gun. Terra incognito!
"Oh Geez, will you look at this stuff? Is there anything in here that doesn't have fluff and glitter all over it?"
Bill picked up a candle and the whiff of Green Tea and Marmalade, made him contort his features.
"Yeech!" he said loudly enough to let the plumpish shopkeeper know of his complete and utter disdain of all things girlish and romantic.
Knowingly the woman slowly wended toward him. As she walked she straightened some figurines and surreptitiously sized up her charge.
"This is one of our most popular fragrances, sir." she advised, passing the candle under his startled face.
"Eee—weelll, ah…yeah…ah, I guess that's, well, that's the kinda stuff you dames like, huh?" he stammered, under the influence of a familiar and wonderful aroma.
"I think any lady would love to get this for a Valentine." she smiled smoothly as Bill blushed imperceptibly.
"It's got those little purpley flowers on it."
"Of course a card is always an appropriate addition to a gift. This one..."
In a few moments Bill found himself at the counter with not only the large candle, but a sweet card and a teddy bear. Pam arrived there at the same time with her chosen gift. Her eyes and mouth widened with disbelief.
As the trio drove home in silence, Bill was too aware of the smug grins and knowing glances of his two friends.
"Will you two just put a sock in it?"
