"Gambit"

She'd never met a mutant before. Not that she knew of. Not up close. Kate had seen a few, operated in the same circles as a few, but she'd never met one of them. Never known one of them.

Sure as hell never fucked one of them.

Closing her eyes to avoid looking into his, she leaned back and rolled her hips, earning a ragged gasp from the Cajun. Remy's grip tightened on her and she shivered feeling the energy radiating from his fingers into her body.

She'd seen him use his abilities. Watched a rock explode as it struck at someone. She'd looked him in those strange red on black eyes and she'd wanted him.

Gambit. The name fit. He was that and then some. To her he was a gamble, a chance, a game...but from his point of view he had all the angles covered. Always thinking and always planning. Before, Before, he'd used that to stay one step ahead of the anti-mutant sentiment. Here, Here he used it to stay alive. The others, the others had given him a wide birth in the beginning, but not Kate.

She wanted what she'd him. Wanted what she'd seen in his eyes.

Then she'd understood. She wanted him because he wanted her. She was a manipulator. She survived by controlling the actions of those around her. She made people do what she wanted. She thrived on it. She couldn't be played. She played people around her. She did what she had to do.

She hadn't seen it coming. He played her as effortlessly as she played everyone else. She hated him for it and she loved him for it just the same.

"Y'know, somethin', chere..." Remy drawled lazily, his voice annoyingly even despite the ragged breaths they were both gasping for, "you think too much." She opened her eyes, finding his devilish gaze boring into her. "Remy fix that."

His hand slid up her thigh and, when charged finger met her clit, Kate let out a scream.

He won and she didn't give a damn.
