A/N: I apologize if my Dave is a little off.
Lane Kim sighed as she walked into the tiny, exclusive café on Fifth Avenue.
"Why couldn't we have met this guy at Burger King?" she asked.
Dave smirked and held her hand. "I wish I knew. I could go for a Whopper."
"Mmm... let's skip the interview and get fast food."
Dave laughed. "The guys would kill us."
"At least we'll die happy," Lane giggled. "Oh! Wendy's! Let's go get Frosties!"
"How about diner food?"
Dave looked over to the table that had been reserved for them to see Jess and Rory sitting there.
Lane stood in shock. "No..."
Dave smiled and gave an over dramatic sniffle as the other couple got up to meet them. "Oh, Jess," Dave said tearfully. "How I've missed you."
Jess's expression softened a little. "Oh, Dave. I know. I know."
Rory laughed at the boys, and hugged Lane.
"What are you guys doing here?!" Lane cried, hugging Rory in return.
Jess held up a tape recorder. "Jess Mariano, Rolling Stone. It's a pleasure to meet you both."
Lane moved from Rory to Jess and threw her arms around him. "I never thought I'd ever be happy to see you!"
Jess startled a little and patted her on the head. "Hey, Lane."
Rory smiled. "Let's get out of here."
******
They sat in the Luke's Diner, occasionally getting stared at by other customers. Dave and Lane weren't as inconspicuous as they used to be.
"I'm shocked," Dave smirked as he sipped his soda. "Actual, intelligent questions in an interview."
"Hey, come on, this is me," Jess replied.
"Enough about us," Lane said abruptly. "How are you guys?"
Rory smiled and took Jess's hand. "We're great. We're... we're getting married."
"What?!" Lane cried.
Jess held up Rory's hand to show them the ring.
"Oh my god!" Lane yelled. She got to her feet and pulled Rory up for a hug.
"Be a bridesmaid!" Rory ordered.
"Yes!"
"Congratulations," Dave told Jess. "Never thought I'd see the day."
"Be a groomsman?"
Dave smiled. "You do love me."
"You doubted?"
"Only for a second."
"You think you could ask Brian and Zack for me?" Jess asked.
"No problem," Dave nodded.
Luke walked over and refilled Rory's coffee. "Everything good over here?"
"No, it's awful," Lane joked. "I demand a refund."
Luke rolled his eyes and walked off.
"My, my," said Ms. Patty as she walked into the diner. "Rory Gilmore, Lane Kim, Jess Mariano and Dave Rygalski all at Luke's. This brings back memories."
"Please say those memories are appropriate for children," Dave muttered.
Lane hit him lightly. "It's good to see you, Patty."
Patty smiled. "When is the new album coming out?"
"Hopefully by October," Dave said.
Jess wrote something down.
"Dammit!" The media wasn't supposed to know that!" Lane cried.
"I am the media," Jess smirked.
Rory took out a camera from her purse and snapped a picture of Lane and Dave. "Me, too."
Patty tilted her head. "Jess, you're in the media now?"
"Rolling Stone," Rory replied proudly.
"Really," Patty said interestedly. "That's very nice."
Dave looked down at his watch. "Uh-oh."
"What?" Lane asked.
"We've got a photo shoot back in New York in twenty minutes."
Lane sighed. "We suck at this rock star thing."
*****
"I haven't shopped in Doose's in a long time."
Jess sighed. After Dave and Lane had left, Rory had insisted on making a junk food run for the ride back to the city.
"Do we really need three bags of mini-muffins?" he asked.
"Of course!" Rory smiled as she put a box of ho hos into the basket. "You like sour patch kids, right?"
He nodded.
"When we're married will we still make junk food runs?" she asked with a smirk.
He laughed a little as he dropped a box of Twinkies in. "Do birds fly?"
Rory giggled a little and leaned over and kissed him.
He reciprocated, pulling her close to him.
"My word!"
Rory pulled away from Jess and turned red. "Uh... Hi, Taylor."
"What are you two doing?!" Taylor yelled.
"Shopping!" Rory said pleasantly, holding the basket up.
Taylor glared at Jess. "I certainly hope so." He stormed off down the aisle.
Jess smirked and kissed Rory's neck. "Let's go make out in the canned food aisle."
She laughed. "Jess!"
"Periodicals?"
She hit him with the basket and kept moving.
He followed. "Dairy?"
"No!" Rory giggled.
"Ice cream section?"
"Dirty."
"Ice cream it is," Jess nodded.
******
"Taylor was outraged."
Jess rolled his eyes as he helped out in the diner that afternoon. "He always is."
Luke his head. "He caught you pinning Rory up against the ice cream freezer in the frozen foods section."
"Fully clothed. We were just kissing."
"You're 23, Jess. Act your age," Luke snapped.
"Hate that song," Jess muttered.
"What?"
He shook his head.
Luke sighed. "Taylor was pretty steamed."
"So was the ice cream."
"Dirty," Luke muttered.
Jess smirked. "You've been spending too much time around Lorelai."
"Yup."
"You guys good?"
"Yup."
Jess nodded. "Good."
Luke sighed. "I gotta ask you something."
"No, I'm not closing today."
"Not that," Luke snapped.
Jess smirked. "Okay. What?"
"This whole... marriage thing... you're serious?"
"Nope. It's a joke."
Luke rolled his eyes. "Jess..."
"No, Luke, I gave her a ring, and drag my ass between here, and Hartford, and New York every week, and look at colors and cakes and wedding dresses, and invitations, because I'm not getting married. What do you think?"
Luke grimaced and wiped down the counter a little. "Okay, then."
Jess looked down and tapped his pencil against his order pad. "Sorry..." he muttered quickly.
"No, you're right," Luke said. "You're not the same, stupid kid you used to be. If you're getting married, than you're getting married."
Jess nodded.
"You track down Liz yet?"
Jess shook his head. "She was in Seattle, last I heard, but I haven't been able to reach her."
"She loves you, Jess."
Jess nodded. "I know. I just wish I could find her." He sighed. "I gotta go meet Rory by the car."
Luke nodded. "See you next weekend."
******
"Married, huh?"
Rory turned around on her way from the Dragonfly. "Dean! Hi!"
He smiled. "Hey, Rory."
"You heard?"
"You know Stars Hollow," he replied.
She nodded. "Better than most."
"So... you and Jess are getting married."
"Yup."
"Congratulations," he told her.
She smiled. "Thanks. How's Lindsay?"
"She's alright."
"Good."
Dean smirked. "So who proposed to who?"
Rory snickered. "He proposed to me... well... it was more of a... shove the jewelry box in my hand and tell me to open it kind of thing."
"Jess doesn't seem like the get down on one knee type of guy," Dean nodded. "Then again, he doesn't really seem like the marrying type, either..."
Rory shrugged. "He's changed a lot. He's more content than he used to be. Much calmer."
"Good," Dean nodded uneasily. "Good for him."
They stood in silence for a moment, before Rory cleared her throat.
"I gotta go. We're supposed to head home soon."
Dean nodded again. "Okay, well... it was great seeing you."
"You, too."

"I ran into Dean."
"Huh."
She sighed. "You're not going to like my next sentence."
Jess nodded as he drove away from Stars Hollow. "You want to invite him to the wedding."
"Well...yeah," Rory admitted turning to him in the passenger's seat. "He invited me to his..."
"I didn't get invited."
"Oh, yes, because you and Dean were such close friends," Rory replied sarcastically.
Jess smirked. "When you weren't around, we'd hold hands and skip, reciting beautiful poetry to each other."
"Dean knows poetry?"
"Only for me."
Rory gave a fake pout. "I feel cheated."
"You should. He's quite good at it."
"Okay, enough with the funny," Rory told him. "I want to invite Dean and Lindsay."
Jess sighed.
