A/N: I don't own anything that relates to Final Fantasy X or Square Soft/Enix unless you count the game disc.

She doesn't belong there anymore.

Wakka walked behind Lulu, watching the hot-tempered mage walk leisurely next to Sir Auron.

Both Guardians kept to themselves most of the time, yet they seemed to have a lot in common, even as they walked together in silent companionship.

Ever since he had known her, Wakka could always picture Lulu in Besaid. Then, when she started seeing Chappu, she seemed to become a larger part of life in Besaid for him. When Chappu died, she was still there, only standing on the white shores with someone else- him.

They had been so close when Chappu died. And, despite the loss of his brother, Wakka was happy for the chance to be so close with Lulu. But now…

Now it seemed that she didn't belong on Besaid's white shores or green tropical forests or on the wooden pier watching the foaming blue waves crash relentlessly on the sandy shores. Wakka tried placing her with him- it didn't fit. He tried imagining her with Chappu- that didn't work.

It seemed right to put her in someplace like the Zanarkand Ruins. Someplace calm, tragic, and tranquil. There was another place that he couldn't help but place her in- the Farplane.

He thought she'd been acting like she was out of it for a while. Kind of like she was…dead. Ever since Mt. Gazaget, she looked like she was about ready to fall apart.

Since then, Wakka often wondered if she had finally moved on and let go of Chappu. But if she had, he had no idea who the lucky man was. Wakka mentally scanned the list of people he knew.

Tidus? No… She's just his walking library of Spira.

Kimahri? Uh…no.

Luzzu? After he convinced Chappu to join the Crusaders? Definitely not.

Gatto? No… She's never paid 'im the slightest attention. I don't think she even knows his name.

Any of the Aurochs? No. Lu didn't go for Chappu 'cuz he was a blitz player.

Maester Seymour? That's kind of gross, ya?

Sir Jecht? Tidus' dad? I don't think so.

Lord Braksa? Lu'd never go for a married man.

So that leaves…

Sir Auron.

Man, I'm really starting to hope I don't know this person.

Next thing he knew, he hit something hard. Snapping out of his daze, he looked around. Everyone had stopped, and Lulu had her head turned toward him, crimson eyes glaring. Auron stood next to her looking rather protective.

"Watch where you're going, Wakka."

"Sorry, Lu."

Lulu turned around, and Wakka's eyes darted to Auron. He could see Auron's hand relax on the hilt of his sword. When Auron turned around, Wakka sighed.

So he's not going to kill me. Wait… Why would he kill me for walking into Lu?

He found that out later, when Tidus told him. "You scared her. She kind of shrieked and readied herself to cast Thundara or something else… Anyway, Auron was about to slice you."

"Ya, man. But why."

"We thought you were a fiend, you know. Not much scares Lulu."

Later, he tried walking behind Lulu again. After a few moments, he could have sworn he heard soft laughter coming from the legendary Guardian. Lulu turned her head to the right and looked at Auron. She was smiling.

That was a shock. An even bigger shock came next. Auron turned toward the mage and, Wakka could tell, he was smiling too.
