This is a revised version of the original. Thanks to reviews, I was able to fix it (I think) and re-post it. Enjoy!
Lulu looked at her quiet companion. Standing on the cliff across from the Al Bhed Travel Agency, she wondered slightly at his reasons for joining them. Sure, he said he made a promise to Lord Braska, Yuna's father, but Lulu had the distinct feeling that he had personal motives.
The wind blew steadily, a common force of nature on the Mi'hen Highroad. The wispy grass around them swayed, and Lulu watched with a sense of serenity. Her scarlet eyes trailed over the ground until there was a flicker of crimson in the corner of her eye. She followed it up, only to remember that it was only Auron's jacket, billowing in the breeze.
He looked older than thirty-five; he looked about forty-five, but years of actively fighting Sin would definitely do that to you. She knew he could only see out of one eye, but that wasn't the one that intrigued her, even though the fiery color fascinated her. The scar running along the right side of his face interested her, but he never would tell that story of how he acquired it, nor would he take off his glasses to let her almond-shaped eyes scan over it. Frown lines were visible, as were lines lightly etched across his forehead by stress. He looked older, but he was definitely handsome. She smiled softly to herself, so softly she didn't realize it.
"You should smile more often."
"What?" She turned to the legendary guardian standing next to her. His body wasn't facing her, but his head was turned toward her and his glasses were in one hand. It was a rare sight, and Lulu only had a few short moments to take in the way the sunlight hit the angles of his face.
"You should smile more often." He put his glasses back on, taking his left arm out of it's customary place to readjust them. Lulu admired muscular, supple arm as the setting sun hit his tanned skin, giving it an ethereal glow.
"Is there some reason to smile that I'm not aware of?"
Her companion turned to fully face her and, even though the collar hid the lower portion of his face, she knew he was smiling. "You're more beautiful when you smile."
Lulu was shocked, flattered and somewhat amused at how quickly the quiet warrior watching the sunset had turned into a semi-flirtatious man. She blushed, and turned her head to the side to try and hide it. She thought she could hear him laughing softly, and she shifted her eyes to glance at him. "You should smile more often."
He stopped laughing and looked at her with a roguish look in his ginger eyes. "And why would I do that?"
"Because I love you more when you do."
