A/N: I don't own anything that relates to Final Fantasy X or Square Soft/Enix unless you count the game disc.
If moonlight ever became an element, she would have been its goddess. It illuminates her pale skin so it seems she shines like the stars themselves. Even with her head tilted up toward the sky, I canstill see her crimson eyes. They reflect the moon, and her eyes look like fire melting ice. She is… beautiful.
But…
Guard your emotions so you can guard your summoner. Besides, I'm dead.
But isn't she too? Like me, she lost everyone she ever cared about because of Sin. Aren't we one and the same?
She looks shaken. One clear teardrop glides gently down her cheek, and she turns, trying to hide it.
"When you left earlier…You went to look at the dead, didn't you?"
She spins around, startled. "What makes you think that?"
"You're crying."
"I just wanted to see what happened… to him."
"To who?"
"Do you remember that man Wakka got into a fight with over Chappu, his brother?"
"Yes."
"I just wanted to see what happened to him. I heard he was killed."
"So…You wanted to see what happened to your fiancé."
"No. I already know what happened to Chappu. Wakka and I received a sphere shortly after the operation. The same sphere was sent o everyone who lost family members in that operation. So… about five years ago, Wakka and I found ourselves walking along this very same road, going to see the outcome of an operation horrendously similar to this one."
"Why did you want to see that man?"
"I wanted to see if he…suffered."
I turned to face her fully. "What do you mean?"
"I wanted to see if he suffered as much as Chappu did. They said at the Djose shore it took a couple of hours for him to die. Then, when I saw the wounds…Those last hours must've been a living nightmare."
"Did you get your revenge?"
"No. His wounds weren't even half of what Chappu received because of him."
"It won't do to dwell in the past."
"I know. I blamed him, you know."
"Blamed who?"
"Chappu. I blamed him for leaving, dying, everything."
"Why?"
"Because I told him not to go. Chappu's place was always in the blitzball stadium or the beach, not a battlefield fighting for a lost cause."
"They'll never learn."
"You're right."
"But, then again, neither will we."
She stared at me, slight confusion showing on her delicate features. She wouldn't believe me if I told her that everything she'd been living for was a lie. She prayed to Yevon, fought for Yevon, and would even lead a woman she thought of as her sister to her death- all for Yevon.
It was then I made up my mind to rid Spira of Jecht, once and for all. After all, isn't letting Sin control Spira letting Jecht control Spira? When Jecht is gone, I can finally rest.
It definitely won't do to dwell in the past.
