A/N: Takes place when Yami is about to walk through the door to the afterlife.

In Ishizu's point of view (supposedly).

I do not own Yugioh.

"Pharaoh, wait!"

I cry

And he turns

The light floods behind him

Framing his face

in an unearthly glow

Bangs hanging

on either side

Expression confused

eyes tired

I take a step forward

raising my hand

pressing it against my collarbone

As I continue

"This is where

your destiny ends

and your life begins

No longer will you

have to carry

the burden on your back"

Eyes icy

He does not respond

And I speak some more

"Destiny can control you.

Lead you to a certain place

a certain event

a certain time.

But no longer.

This is where

the shackles on your wrists and ankles

shatter

and you are free.

Free from destiny."

He is silent for a moment

His friends turn around

confused

wondering what my next words will be

or if

he will respond

A cold breeze

brushes past

making my dress flutter

and his hair wave

Then, slowly, his lips part, voicing a small question

"…how?"

Examining him

I think of how to place my answer

into the correct words

I see

That his expression has changed

From confusion to ice

To wariness

And I see

A faint glimmer of hope

In his eyes

And I explain

"Destiny

can control your life.

But not all of it.

Only when…

the past repeats itself

But now…

this is the time

When your destiny ends

And your life begins

So far

you have walked the road of destiny

and now

the road is gone

And you must begin to make your own choices

"Before you

stand two choices

two roads

A path you must walk

A decision you must make

Your fate is in you hands

"The question is

which will you choose?"

His eyes widen

Expression not so dark

His face—still seems unearthly

But he is not

Holy light

reflecting off

the leather of his shirt

Buckles glinting sharply

The glow

framing his proud body

Hands clenched

"The two roads"

he gestures vaguely

"I cannot see them"

So I tell him

"The first

leads to the Afterlife

To your paradise

Where you belong

with your comrades

Your friends

Your home

"But the second

Allows you to stay

here in the present

with your new-found friends

under one condition

"To stay in this time

means taking the risk

of never reaching the Afterlife

when you die

Meaning

that you may never find

your paradise

"Do you wish

to risk losing

your past life

altogether?"

He stands still for a moment

Looks behind him

Then turns to gaze at his friends

And I smile

For the choice is his

And finally

he has reached

the end of his destiny
