Yami sighed, then asked: "what brings you here then, beyond your visions?"
"two years ago, i decided to take control of my life, roughly 3 months ago, a demonic force, resurrected from this artefact killed most of those i held dear. i made a descision on the day, i will no longer stand by while the world drives itself to oblivion."
a loud thump! could be heard from the second level followed by a shout of "inuBaka!" Yami smiled at this. "Come," he said. "come and meet my friends. we've had our share of hardships too." and then yami faded, returning to his spirit form. now normally people could not see him as such, but ranma tracked his movements up through the roof, onto the second floor. sighing, he set down his pack and headed up the stairs.

They were restless, she felt. every now an then she would turn and scold them as the tried to break their bindings and do anything. looking forlornly at the photo of her childhood companion, the 17 year old girl sighed again.
"now, now, you can;t just go out and play..." she muttered to her friends. "I've got schoolwork to do... I know he's coming, but-" suddenly the 4 most powerful broke from their containment, and shot out, swirling around the room. without a thought she called her magician's focus, and set about sealing them. as they returned to their sealed forms, she heard their voices calling. "that old darkness comes... ride again...ride again...ride..."
she stood in quite shock over the words, which despite being strangely familiar, she couldn't place. "why did you make them so damn cryptic, Reed, son of Selene..." (2)

Alanus was not your everage elfin bishonen. he and his mate were exploring space... and the powers of love with their great space tree, yami no hikaru. originally a tree of life, their homeword's distruction had evolved it to epic proportions. he turned, and watched raquiel(1) as she tended to the many roses and other plants that grew in and around their tree. then, though deep space would have you believe it were soundless, a great sorrowful creening reached their ears.
"Alanus, that sound"
"yes, it is another of the great trees... come, we must aid it"
heir tree, dark of light changed course, and accelerated towards the noise. as they picked up speed, alanus could hear a very familiar straining melody. witdrawing his flute he matched the notes... and terrible realization dawned on him.
"Raquiel! the cardigans," he shouted.
she needed no other warning. in their time on earth, the two had used a deck of cards to summon creatures to do their bidding, but these, the had in turn taken from a much larger collection, maintained at the heart of their tree. Raquiel leaped from her persition, darted through the branches, and into an alcove. 15 seconmds later sh returned with a book, open and flowing with power.
Alanus brought his flute to his lips, and begane to play. the melody that emerged was a counterpoint to the one he had been hearing, and as he played, the book took in that power and gave it form. hundreds of creatures manifested, each following alanus and raquiels biddings, summoned as they were from the cards within the book. and each knew that they were going to face their age old enemies from the world of abyss.

ok, short filler chapter introducing two of the other main character groups, a cookie to you if you know who they are. i am still working on this. however school and college apllications and work are taking up a lot of my life.
(1) Yes i know i have her name wrong, buyt i forget what it is and don;t have tikme to look it up. for now this will be her 'real' name. besides i like it better. note #2 there will be no real mention, except in passing of the 'main' characters from his and her universe.
(2) yes i'm tying the 4 universes together.
