Disclaimer: I do not own Ragnarok online

This is sort of a sequel to my previous fic Follower. Not really a sequel because it has no particular timeline…but oh well! Same as before if you don't like the idea of gay people, please do use both a favour, and stop reading.

Leader

Ruan was used to being followed by Akira. You had to be used to something, especially since it happened every day. He wasn't sure if it was a good thing, but he didn't mind in the least. Infact, on some subconscious level, he's pretty sure he encourages it.

Ruan remembers the day he met Akira very clearly. It was one of the more significant events of his life. It was a mild day, not too windy, nor too warm. He's not sure what compelled him to feed a stranger, but he did it nevertheless. He knows virtually nothing of Akira's past, and he's pretty sure Akira doesn't know much of his. It never really bothers him.

Although Ruan is not generally a speculative person, he thinks Akira is Amatsun. At least, that would be his closest guess. Akira's hair was dark grey, and not completely black, and his eyes were light grey, not completely white. Akira commented once, that he disliked his own eyes. After that comment, Ruan made a note to compliment on the boy's eyes more often.

The crusader understands that he and the acolyte are drawn to each other. It would be impossible not to. The pair doesn't talk much, but they don't need to. Somehow, both are amazingly adept at reading the other's thoughts. Each knows exactly what the other is thinking. Ruan dwells on how well they both go together, and on more than one occasion, Ruan wonders if they qualify as "Soul mates"

For the most part, Ruan is happy that he and Akira are drawn together. It keeps Akira close to him, and the boy is very important to him. Other times, Ruan is terrified that Akira will eventually realize how truly desperate and clingy he is, and leave him. He looks at the acolyte, and sees unwavering faith in the other's eyes. The crusader never realizes how easy it is to hide doubt and guilt when one has hazy, grey eyes.

Ruan is exactly the type to believe in love. Perhaps it is foolish and irrational, but most things in the world are. He knows that he will only love one person in his entire life, and he knows exactly who said person is. He has conviction in this feeling, and knows it will stay for eternity. He is uncertain though, whether the acolyte shares the same mentality. It never occurs to him to have conviction in the others feelings as well.

Revised! Needless to say, I'm happy with the way this turned out, even though "Leader" was a pain to write. In the end, I took the easy way out, and borrowed the old "contrast" trick. But, it's a trick I'm familiar and secure with. I hope you liked the results as well!
