This is my second HSM story. The plot takes care of itself. My other story, the Heart's Weakness, is not finished but it's getting there. I hope you enjoy my new one. It came to me while I was sitting in my room. Please read and review.

Gabriella was leaning against her locker holding her books. She had great friends, a wonderful boyfriend, but she couldn't help but feel like something was missing.
"Hey, Gabbi," Troy said kissing her on the cheek.
Gabriella smiled at him, "Hey."
"So, I was thinking that maybe you'd like to go somewhere after school. Maybe a movie?"
She shrugged her shoulders, "I'll have to see if I have other plans."
"O.K. That's cool. Well, we better get to class."
"You go on. I'll be there in a minute."
Troy nodded his goodbye and walked away.
'Troy is great,' Gabriella thought, 'but I just don't know if...'
"Ow!" Gabriella yelled as someone ran into her.
"Watch where I'm going," Sharpay said with her nose stuck up in the air.
Gabriella glared at Sharpay. She glanced at Ryan, who was standing beside Sharpay.
"Sorry," Gabriella said quietly.
Sharpay laughed, "I know you are."
Sharpay opened her locker. Grabbing a book, she slammed her locker and walked away leaving Ryan at his locker.
Gabriella turned back to her books, but kept stealing glances at Ryan.
'He's actually quite attractive,' she thought, 'wait, what am I thinking? I'm with Troy.'
Ryan looked at Gabriella who was staring at him, "What?"
Gabriella, who was day dreaming, snapped out of it, "Nothing."
"Then why were you staring at me?"
"I wasn't."
'Uh huh," Ryan muttered in disbelief, turning back to his locker.
"Listen," Gabriella said as Ryan turned to look at her, "I know you probally don't care about my life, but I still need to ask your opinion about something."
Ryan looked stunned, "You're asking me for advice?"
Gabriella smiled, "Maybe. Shouldn't I? I mean I know we don't know eachother very well."
"This is the first time we've ever talked."
"Well, we should start.
"O.K."
"So, I'm dating Troy, and he's great. I just always feel like I'm missing something. Like I want someone else...someone that's not him."
"Why are you telling me this, again?"
"I need to tell it to someone. You just happen to be standing here."
"I see..."
"What do you think?"
"I think you should listen to your heart, and get to class," Ryan laughed.
Gabriella smiled, "Yeah, I should."
Ryan closed his locker and made his way to class. Gabriella watched him leave with a grin on her face.
Little did Ryan know, her heart was telling her to love him. Her mind had other plans
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gabriella walked into class to notice that everyone was already in there.
"You're late!" Mrs. Darbus said as Gabriella sat down.
"Sorry."
"Dentention for you, Mrs. Montez."
Gabriella nodded her head.
"Gabriella," Troy whispered, "where were you?"
"I just got tied up. I dropped my books."
She knew it was a lie, but he couldn't know that she was talking to Ryan.
Ryan had heard Gabriella lie to Troy about talking to him.
He didn't know why she had to lie, but it was none of his business.
'I don't like Ryan...I don't like Ryan,' Gabriella kept telling herself, 'I don't like Ry-oo I like what he's wearing. Wait, no, I don't like Ryan.'
'Why did she talk to me in the hall?' Ryan asked himself, 'She had to have a reason.'
Gabriella wrote I don't like Ryan all over her scrap paper as she tryed to make her believe she didn't.
She knew she did, but it hurt because she did and there was nothing she could do about it.
