Never an Absolution

You looked across the harbor one last time before making the trip of your life

Thousands gathered to watch you set sail across a doomed ocean and never to be recovered

No one had any doubts that you wouldn't make it, your speed was more graceful then the creatures that now surrounded you below the surface

People walked upon your surfaces and felt a sense of freedom and desire for they would be headed to the land of opportunity

Others had the feeling they were heading right back to the beginning of despair and misfortune

I only knew that should something happen then it was God's way of saying you failed beautifully

And who could blame you?

As each day came and went, more and more people anticipated what was to be the most unexpected turn of events in human history

On that last night everyone celebrated what would be your second to last night on the ocean before making your return to the harbor and continue a tradition that would've been beautiful for years to come

The only thing that stood in your way…an obstacle bigger then life itself…it's icy cover blanketed half the ship causing it to overturn those 2,000 on board

No one really knows who survived…or why so many men were forced into the water…

It was the worse mistake people could make…and yet they still let it haunt them

Most of those who survived…with one toss of the dice…are almost on death's wheel

Spinning and Screaming they know what to expect as to those who died that dreadful evening

And now that we know we'll never recover it…we have a piece of history

Pieces that will make those remember…remember the 14th of April in 1912

Those who screamed and cried when their lovers were never found did them no good

And to this day I regret going…for I can't sleep…without an absolution…
