Chapter Two:

Flight

"Oliver?" Lilly asked, comming around a corner onto the beach.

"Hey, Lilly." Oliver said, in a sad tone.

"Were you and Miley fighting about me?" she asked.

"No, no Lilly. It was-" Oliver began, but Lilly cut him off.

"Because I heard my name, and I don't want to be the cause of truble, ok? It's best if I leave, I guess." Lilly siged, walking away.

"Ok, maybe I don't have Lilly, either." Oliver thought.

He began running after her. They went halfway down the beach before Lilly finally stopped.

"Lilly! Look, we wern't fighting about you!" Oliver cried.

"You-wern't?" Lilly asked, "'Cause it sure sounded like it."

"No. We were fighting about something dumb I said."

"What?" Lilly asked.

"Well, you didn't actually have something stuck in your teeth."

"Yeah, I wondered about that." Lilly said, looking puzzled, "These are the things that haunt me."

"I was supossed to tell you that I have a crush on you, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I was nervous. so Miley yelled at me." Oliver said, not exactly realizing the great importantence of what he had just told her untill after he told her.

"You-have a crush-on me?" Lilly asked.

"Yeah..." Oliver replied, too nervous to say anything else.

"Well that's a releif! I thought I was gonna go crazy!" Lilly said, as Oliver let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

Oliver kissed Lilly, like he had wanted to do for years and years, and no one could ever be kissed like that without feeling like a bird-a bird in flight.
