Happy Birthday
"Take it easy there, Cloud!" Vincent warned as he help him to sit down on the floor. "I'd say you've had a bit too much to drink." Vincent grinned at him as he went to sit at the bar with Rude, Tseng, and Rufus.
"Don't be stupid Vincent, I only had one drink. Or two." He yelled after him, as he hiccupped and leaned against the wall.
Suddenly, Vincent heard unsteady footsteps and turned to see Reno stumble into the room and half sit, half fall on the ground next to Cloud.
"Not another one." Vincent said, a hint of annoyance in his voice. They had all come together at the Seventh Heaven Bar to celebrate his birthday, but a few of his friends, namely Reno and Cloud, had gone overboard with their "celebrating". Vincent sighed and shook his head, taking a sip of his drink.
"We'll have to watch those two." he heard a shy voice say from behind the counter. He looked up and, to his delight, saw Tifa standing in front of him, looking as lovely as ever. Oh god, he loved her...
"Vincent?"she asked, snapping him out of his trance. He felt his cheeks start to grow red and hoped she hadn't noticed him staring. "Need a refill?" she inquired politely, seeing him look into his empty cup.
"No, I'm fine. Wouldn't want to end up like those two." he replied, not turning away from her.
She laughed and pointed towards Cloud and Reno who were now flirting with each other furiously.
She burst out laughing. "I can see why. It's okay, I like you better sober." She grinned and walked out from behind the bar counter, taking a seat on a barstool beside him. "So, how's the birthday boy?" she asked looking up at him.
"As great as ever." he said sarcastically.
"Oh cheer up Vince, you're always so dark." she said jokingly. "I have a present for you. Maybe it'll make you feel better." She smirked mischievously. Before he could ask what it was, she had leaned in and kissed him. He felt his cheeks start to glow and he leaned in towards her, not wanting the kiss to end. All of the sudden though, they heard everyone burst out laughing and cheering. Embarrassed, thinking his friends were watching the two of them kiss, Vincent pulled back.
"Hey Birthday Boy! Get a load of this!" he heard Cid yell. He turned and immediately saw the source of everyone's laughter. There on the floor, both drunk as hell, were Cloud and Reno...liplocked. Not seeming to notice the crowd watching them, they continued to make out passionately.
"Well, I'll always remember this birthday." Vincent said, laughing for the first time that night.
Tifa joined in, not able to stop giggling.
"Yeah, but it'll be a wonder if they remember any of it."
"Oh, they will. I'll never let them live this down." he grinned. "I guess this party wasn't a waste of time after all."
She smiled and pulled him into another kiss, just as amazing as the first. The jeers of the others seemed to fade away instantly. "Happy birthday."
He closed his eyes, kissing her back. "Yes, it is."
