Title: The Bodyguard
Author:Ambrosine/M.Poison/R.Maxine
Rating: eventual M (R)
Summary: Spike travels to L.A. seeking a job from Angel, only to meet Angel's daughter, Dawn. AU
Dawn was the daughter of Angel and Darla. Her name was rather ironic, considering her parentage, but that was her mother's dying wish, for her to have that name. Dawn's father, Angel, was the CEO of Wolfram and Hart, an evil law firm that he was trying to reform. Angel never specifically told his daughter, but she was the reason he accepted their offer. He had a constant group of body guards watching over his daughter. They were the best that Wolfram and Hart could provide, although he still wasn't convinced of her safety.
Dawn sighed, they went everywhere with her, and it was rather tiring but her father said "NO" every time she asked for time without her constant bodyguards. She was currently walking through the aforementioned evil law firm to her dad's office, her six bodyguards in tow. She used to have eleven, but Cordelia, her dad's unofficial girlfriend and her surrogate mother, finally convinced him that that was truly ridiculous.
She reached her dad's office and from outside the door she heard the sounds of yelling, and the smashing of furniture being broken. A fight was going on!
"DAD!" She yelled pushing through the doors. Her bodyguards didn't have time to pull her back, before she came rushing in. The scene before her wasn't an epic battle or even life threatening. Cordelia looked up and smirked at Dawn, as Angel and the unfamiliar man broke apart. Dawn examined the new man carefully. It seemed as if he and her father weren't fighting to death, which was unusual for her father, making the new man of interest to her.
"A daughter?" the blonde man gave her a piercing look. "Angel, I do believe you've been keeping things from me" He mocked as he glided toward Dawn. She noticed his English accent immediately, it was kind of sexy.
"Get out, Spike." Angel growled, not liking his attention on his daughter.
"Spike, you're Spike, as in, William the Bloody?" Dawn practically squealed. She had wanted to meet him only, like, her whole life.
"The one and only, little sister" He said, although the look in his eyes was anything but brotherly.
Spike lit a cigarette and perused her form before turning back to her father.
"So..about that job?" Spike asked her father.
"Spike" Her father warned with a growl, he had never been a man of many words.
"Angel, why don't you just give him a job, what can it hurt, anyway?" Cordelia asked, giving her father one of her annoyed looks.
"Yeah, pops, I could guard the bit here" pointing at Dawn "Considering the fact that I could snap the necks of her whole harem in about a second. You need someone new"
"I suppose you're right that her guards aren't doing their job- You're all fired" Angel said, looking at the group of idiots that had let Dawn in his office with Spike in the room. Spike grinned, it seemed too easy..
"But you don't get the position, for the last time, get out" Angel said with finality.
"Wait, Angel" Cordelia said with the look in her eye that spelled out trouble.
"Wait, Dad" Dawn said with the same look.
Spike let a slow smile grow on his face, the one that said "I win"
Notes: Okay this is really AU. It starts 16 years after season 4 of Angel. Spike has a soul. Dawn was never the key; she's the daughter of Angel and Darla. Connor/Jasmine/Evil!Cordy never existed. Angel was offered the job because he kept on killing the CEO's of Wolfram and Hart.
