Happily Ever After

cap'n coree

Once upon a time,

there was a beautiful Queen and King, and they had a beautiful daughter. Sadly, when the girl was a baby she had to be removed from the castle with her mother, to hide somewhere remote. The King was put under an evil spell that made him forget his familly, his throne, and his people, allowing an evil emperor to take over and bully people, until they forgot all about their loving King and Queen and their beautiful princess.

The Princess, meanwhile, was growing up with her mother in cognito, and didn't remember her father at all. She didn't remember that she was really heir to the throne. All she remembered was the smell of sunflowers, for around their castle they had many, and her father always smelled as such.

The Queen got very sick, and the Princess feared she was dying. The Queen tried to tell her the truth, but only managed to tell her that her father was still alive. The Princess, determined to find him, went searching. The Princess didn't get far before she got stuck working in a small teahouse, there she meant a strange man with wild eyes, and a samurai with long black hair. They fell in love with the Princess and pledged their loyalty to her because she was oh so beautiful and charming. Thus they set out on their journey to find the Samurai that smells of Sunflowers, because the Princess recalled that he always had a sword on him like the man with long hair, and they had looked alike as well.

Her bodyguards never left herside, and treated her with all the love and respect she could want, and for a little while, nearly remembered what it was like to be a Princess, and who she really was.

Finally they found her father, living in a small cottage surronded by sunflowers, and the moment he saw the Princess, he regained his memory and ran towards her, and vice versa.

The Princess was very happy, for her Father reclaimed the country, and all the people rejoiced and all the bad guys were kicked out, and the Queen even came back to life, because thats how happy everything became.

And the Princess kept her two bodyguards forever and ever, and they waited on her hand and foot, and loved it. Then they all lived Happily Ever After.

...The End

Fuu tells herself that story every night. She runs it through her head making small changes to it wherever need be, like if she is feeling kindly towards Jin, he becomes a Prince and they marry, keeping Mugen around as a house keeper, or if she's feeling frisky, she ends up running away with Mugen in the end. Usually she keeps it at a nice safe medium, because she can't decide who she wants, but as she watches them walk she knows that they're praying to leave, she knows it doesn't matter, neither of them will have her.

Fuu tells herself that story as they approach the island, his island. She wants to see him so badly, she can't believe it, but when they see one another, no spell gets lifted, no chariots appear.

As she stares at the bloody mess that once was her father, her last words to him echoing in her head, she knows there are no happy endings.
