Title: Anniversary

Author: Molly The Wanderer

Continuity: Current .

Notes: fanfic challenge 11. Red. Ohmygosh it's a romance fic. And what's more its Bruce and Selina, usually I'm a Bats/Talia fan myself, but oh well. This suits the challenge better. And hey, I actually like it. . Never mind that I broke the rules of my own challenge but its 3:22 am and I'm tired…insomnia is a wonderful muse. So, enjoy. P.S. dedicated to Mara Greengrass as always.

Selina usually wore black when they went out. But for some reason, she had chosen a bright red dress for the evening's festivities. Bruce sighed as he approached her, and she smiled at him. Of course, she just wanted to see him squirm.

"I didn't know a leopard could change her spots." Bruce said, putting on a smile that might actually be genuine as he wrapped an arm around her waist. She laughed a little as he kissed her cheek.

"Look who's talking?" Selina nudged Bruce so she could get a better look at him; a blazer over a dark t-shirt and designer jeans, much more casual than his usual suit and tie.

Bruce shrugged, "Dick and Tim thought I needed an update."

Dinner went by quickly, Bruce had the feeling Selina was trying to hint at something, but they rarely discussed "business" when not in costume. She missed several steps when they danced, but Bruce didn't say anything, they'd both had a glass of wine with dinner and he allowed that to be the cause. As they waited for Alfred and the car Bruce noticed the melancholy in Selina's face.

"Everything okay?" he asked, wrapping both arms around her. She turned to look him in the face, "nothing, I'm fine." She smiled and kissed him.

"You're hogging the bed sheets." Selina snorted as she sat up to look her lover in the face. Bruce sat reclined against the headboard of his large bed. Naked. Selina traced an old scar on his chest. "Technically, only one sheet remains on the bed, and I need it." She tugged at the deep blue fabric. Bruce smiled lazily down at her. He ran a hand through his dark hair. It was definitely one of those nights where he almost wished he didn't have to go on patrol. Selina slipped off the bed, as she milled around the large room searching for their clothes and folding them as she found them Bruce leaned forward; something was tugging at his brain.

"Why red?"

"What?" Bruce pushed himself off the bed and went to his dresser to find something clean to wear. He turned to look Selina in the eye, or more importantly, Batman did.

"You almost never wear red, and certainly not when we go out. Why tonight?" Selina's face fell, she gently lifted Bruce's new blazer and hugged it to herself.

"You don't remember?" He shook his head.

"It's our anniversary, the first night you chased me."
