Chapter 1 A.G. (After Ganon)

It had been two weeks since Ganon's defeat. Link was worn out after all the fighting and all the quick thinking. That was the worst part, the thinking. It was always, "how do I solve this," or, "how do I destroy that?" It was hard, and tiring. Although in his heart he knew he loved the action, he knew something and hated to admit it, but...

He needed a much deserved vacation.

But where to? He had been to the desert, and even though the people there had accepted him, he knew they despised him a little for killing Ganondorf, their first male in so long.

Or maybe he could go to the ocean. But then there were the Zora. Whom their princess, even though she was a sage in the future, thought that they were engaged now. That's the kind of attention he didn't need right now.

There was the forest. No one knew too much of what had happened, but after living there for so long he needed something a little different.

No way was he going back to the mountains. Sure the Goron were great. They loved to give the hero a hug. Link thought that he broke his back when he went up there a few days ago to go check up on them. Link, the Goron named after him, was growing up to be braver. He ate a bomb flower to show that he was just as tough as his human counterpart.

Then there was the castle. Way too much pressure there. Zelda had remembered everything. Everyone else knew what had happened but there were a few exceptions. Ruto, Nabooru, Impa, and the other sages didn't know that they were sages yet. The King hadn't remembered anything because Ganondorf had killed him before anything extreme had happened. He had started asking questions when Ganondorf had disappeared. Zelda started to tell him but he stopped her after she told him about the Temple of Time opening. And the Master Sword. He had to see it for himself, so he asked Link to show him.

They went to the Temple of Time, and showed the door open with the three jewels on the podium in front of the door. They went inside of the secret chamber that held the Master Sword. There it was, as always, the Master Sword sitting on its pedestal. Then the King tried to take it out of It's stand. It wouldn't budge.

"Link, you said that you could remove the sword. Please pull it out for me, I wish to hold it," asked the King.

Link backed up, he wasn't too far into the room. He had stayed near the entrance. He didn't want to touch that sword again. Not after what had happened. He had nearly fifteen years of his life taken away because of this sword. Sure he got to go back to his kid self but he never got to grow up as a normal kid because of it.

Link ran out the door. He still didn't know what other secrets the Sword held and he didn't want any other part of his life going away like his childhood. He got to the cliff of the Lon-Lon Ranch before he decided to stop. He admitted to himself that he was a little scared of the Master Sword. How could he help himself?

"Of course!" he thought, "the Ocarina of Time!" It had helped him through many binds. Maybe it could help him here too. He thought of the right song, the Song of Healing. He played the soothing melody and felt the weight of his troubles lift away.

When he returned he saw the King and Zelda standing there waiting for him.

"You must understand sir that this Sword has powers that still confuse me and I don't want anything in my life to change more than it already has." Link said.

With that said the King nodded and Link stepped up to the Sword. He put his hand around the hilt and pulled the sword out of its stone pedestal and disappeared in a flash of blue light.
