A/N: You all know the drill with the disclaimer. This is just something that came to me last night while watching the episode in the lift.
Meredith Grey sighed to herself as she pressed the elevator buttons and waited for the doors to open. When they opened she stepped inside. She knew that Derek was in there too, but she was going to ignore him.
They spoke quietly for a moment or two, just a normal chat. Then Meredith said something that surprised them both.
"I'm over you" She said, she sounded confident and positive.
"I'm over you too" Derek replied, his voice just as positive and confident.
"You are?" Meredith asked. She was a little surprised. Had she really meant nothing to him? She knew that what she said wasn't true, she could never get over him, she loved him too much.
"No, I'm not" Derek replied. Meredith knew he was telling the truth, his eyes said it all. Eye's it seems, are the gateway to your soul. If the right person looks hard enough, they can see exactly what you feel, even if you won't admit it.
"You're not?" Meredith asked. Her voice held a slight bit of hope.
"No, I'm not. I don't think I'll ever get over you Meredith" Derek replied. He took a small sidestep closer to her.
"I don't think I'll get over you either" Meredith replied. She had seen Derek inch closer, but she didn't say anything.
"I miss you Mere" Derek said. He was right beside her now, she could feel his shirt sleeve against her arm.
"I miss you too, but you're with Addison" Derek stood in front of Meredith he put his hands on her shoulders. One hand cupped her cheek. He leaned in and kissed her softly. Her lips felt like heaven against his. He wanted more, he wanted all that she could give. He knew this'd hurt Addison, but, he didn't care. Screw Addison Derek thought to himself.
Meredith's arms instinctively went around his neck. She leaned into his kiss. She had missed his kisses. She missed the way he caressed her thigh after they made love, and the way he always left his clothes all over her room. The way he left the lid off the toothpaste and somehow always used her toothbrush instead of the one she bought for him. The way he always talked through movies, and kicked her under the table when they were talking. She missed everything about him. Except his occasional snoring, which she could always do without.
The elevator doors opened, and Addison caught them together.
"You bastard!" She cried out. She ran down the corridor, tears streaming down her face.
Meredith was embarrassed. Addison had hurt her by just showing up one day, but she never wanted to hurt her back. She wasn't that type.
That night Derek went home with Meredith. He knew Addison would be at the trailer, he couldn't bare to face her. He didn't want to see the hurt in her eyes, the betrayal in her voice.
Meredith set the couch up for him. She knew that it was uncomfortable to sleep on the couch, but she knew she wouldn't be able to control herself if they slept in the same bed.
She said goodnight to him then retreated to her room. She felt weird having Derek sleep on her couch. She would've preferred him to sleep in her bed, but that wasn't fair on Addison. That night, Meredith dreamed of Derek.
The next morning Meredith woke to find something warm in bed beside her. She rolled over and saw Derek. She knew nothing had happened between them, so sometime last night he must have crept up to her room. She didn't mind, she just rolled back over and went back to sleep. She would face everything when she was more awake. Right now she would just sleep peacefully in Derek's company.
A/N: Ok that wasn't my best work, I got a little distracted near the end (bet you can tell where I started to get distracted) Please review!
