Disclaimer: If I owned Kingdom Hearts, Nobodies would have a way of coming back. Since I don't, certain Nobodies (who shall remain nameless) will forego the pleasure of getting their butts kicked a second (or third, in some cases) time.
Warning: Mild spoilers for KH2;slightly depressing if you think about it;onesided Sora/ Roxas, but only if you squint really hard at the last line. I didn't originally plan for that to be there, but since I ship most couples (eh, lofty of me, isn't it?), take it however you want. How do the Akuroku people say it? Oh, yeah: "friendship, love, whichever you like." Something like that.
Other: Gah, I couldn't get this outta my head! First it was the title, and then the basic outline, and finally I had to just type it just to get it out.
Not Mine
He held them in his hands, but he knew that they weren't his. They could never be his.
With Oathkeeper in his left hand— he had summoned it in his right, but it refused to stay there— and Oblivion in his right, something always felt...off. As if there was a missing link, a connection that he just didn't have, the keyblades felt like they were made of lead in his hands.
He had searched high and low and in every bottle of blonde dye and gel that he could find, but nothing seemed to fit. He knew what was missing, of course, but he didn't know how to get it back.
No, he knew how. The only problem was that it required a short trip from which there shouldn't be any return. He had come back once, against all odds, and he really didn't want to tempt the Fates again. Word on the street was that they were in Hades's pocket, and he knew that that god would waste no time in getting revenge.
But maybe...maybe Hades had had his revenge already. Maybe he had, underneath all their noses, slipped in and grabbed Roxas's soul. And maybe that was why Oathkeeper looked dull and Oblivion looked frail. Maybe that was why he had become quieter and quieter. Maybe he, like Roxas, had lost his personal flame.
He could never envy Roxas, especially when he summoned Bond of Flame and realized that it, too, was cold in his grasp. Because ultimately, those three keychains were not his. They were inheritance; even if Kairi had given him her lucky charm, not Roxas, Oathkeeper was Number XIII's weapon.
Those three were not his. And neither was Roxas; not anymore.
