It has been three years since Jaden and his gang had graduated from Duel academy and a new battle city tournament is to start soon.
As the night before the tournament started all the duelists had arrived this time the tournament was ran by both Kaiba corps and Industrial Illusion. Seto Kaiba and Maximillion Pegasus arrive in a helicopter and show themselves on a broadcast across the city. "Welcome to this years Battle City tournament. The rules are the same as past years and I'm sure you all understand them. The tournament will start tomorrow morning." Everyone looks around at the competition and get's excited.
Two duelists new to the tournament stand near eachother. "Looks like we'll have our work cut-out for us. By the looks of things we'll be lucky to make it to the finals. What do you think, Mikari?"
"With all the practicing we've been doing I think at least one of us is bound to make it to the finals. Let's head home, I want to double check my deck and get to sleep early." She smiled at Kuro and grabbed his arm walking off.
Once they got to thier apartment the two pulled out thier collections of cards and thier decks. Kuro having ten decks and Mikari only having one. "You think you've got enough decks?" She giggles but he ignores the comment. He was used to it from her and would have been more surprised if she hadn't said it. "Well you know I like to be prepared for anything and everything." He skimmed through each deck making sure they weren't missing any cards and seeing if he could make any modifications. "Oh yeah here this should help your deck out some." He hands her a sages stone card. "Thanks Kuro, I think I'm gonna go to sleep now. I'll see you in the morning." She puts her deck away and goes to her room and he goes to his a few minutes later.
They both woke up fairly early and the tournament wasn't going to start for another few hours. "Hey let's head on to the city. Nothing else we can walk around town for awhile." She smiles at Kuro and once they eat they both head towards the city walking around doing some shopping until it's time for the tournament to start.
