Disclaimer: I do not hold the rights to Harry Potter. That honor belongs to J.K.Rowling.

Author's Note: This is my first attempt at writing anything of the exclusive Harry/Ginny canon relationship. It is very tragic, but that was the sort of mood I was in while I was writing it. I believe I have created a mirror image with this. The start of Harry's life mimicking the end in the eyes of the masses, which is how I felt it should be. I would desperately love to see Harry die at the end of the seventh book (not because I have any sort of grudge against him, only because I feel it to be the most logical ending) but I doubt Jo will honor my request. I hope all you H/G fans out there will enjoy this.

The Chosen One

He had made her happy. He had made her the happiest she had ever been in her life, and she couldn't help but let her mind wander to those almost carefree days when things mattered, but it didn't really affect either of them.

Down to the last second he hadn't given up the hope that the wizarding world would pull through, and that things would be better again. It was that hope that had saved everyone in the world from a terrible fate. He had held faith in everyone except himself, and because of that he was able to let go in the end, even if no one else was.

The entire world mourned him although there were few that truly knew enough about him to understand his sacrifice.

She stood before his grave and didn't cry, because she was one of those that understood. He was buried with his parents at his own request. The funeral had been a very private affair, at her request, because she knew that was how he would have wanted it.

He had never enjoyed the cameras that hounded him daily. He didn't want the fame he was given. He was so very different from what she had once imagined him to be, and yet, she had found out that he was even more perfect that she had expected. He had been her knight in shining armor since she was a little girl, and, in a way, he always would be.

She loved him, and he had loved her in return.

Their romance had been dangerous and he had warned her time and time again that she would only ever be hurt. He had been wrong. In the end she wasn't hurt, because by that time she knew him well enough not to be.

He was still with her. He would always be with her because he lived on in the hearts of millions all over the world who raised their glasses and cried, "To Harry Potter, The Chosen One!"
