"Now, Haibara - san", Ayumi said and the music started.
"Here you go!"
"Uh – oh", Ai thought in panic. "Now I'm in trouble…"
Conan had been hiding in the bathroom 20 minutes already, and he started to get really bored. He opened the door and heard someone singing in the livin room.
But this voice didn't belong to any of the three kids. But it sounded familiar.
"C-could it be…?" he thought, but then shook his head.
"Nah, it can't be."
But suddenly he heard Ayumi's voice cheering.
"Wow, Haibara – san! That was great!"
Conan couldn't believe his ears.
"Haibara?"
Ai dropped the microphone and glared at the kids.
"There, I'm done. Are you happy now!"
"Really happy, Haibara – san!" Mitsuhiko said and smiled. "You're such a good singer!"
"Oh be quiet…" Ai muttered, blushing.
"They're right, Haibara! It was great."
Ai turned around and saw Conan standing at the door with a grin. Her eyes widened.
"Ku…"
"Conan – kun!" Ayumi said cheerfully. "Now would you like to sing a song with me?"
"Um, no", Conan said. "But shouldn't you guys go home? It's already dark out."
"Okay!" the kids answered. "See you tomorrow at school!"
"See ya!"
"So?" Conan said and grinned. "I thought you would never do anything like that."
"I didn't want to do it!" Ai shouted. "They forced me to do it!"
"Yeah, right…"
"Really! Seriously, Kudo – kun, do you think I would like to do something like that?"
"No." Conan said, seriously this time. "You wouldn't."
"I told you!"
Then Ai sighed. "What if… What if we'll never find the antidote that will change us back? What if we have to stay like this forever?"
To her surprise, Conan smiled.
"Oh come on Haibara, of course we'll find it! Some day…"
"Hmm…" she said and smiled a bit. "Maybe… some day."
"Yeah, but I have to go now, Haibara", Conan said and walked to the door. "Ran is probably worried. See ya!"
"Bye", Ai said and watched how Conan walked away. And when she climbed up the stairs to the bedroom, she felt much better.
Now, Ai Haibara really smiled.
"Thank you, Kudo – kun…"
