This is a first for me and most of you are probably expecting something funny. Please don't this is a serious fic.

Dedicated to AkaiTsume. Her work on 'Chasing Naruto' is completely awe inspiring, and prompted me to give this a shot.

I'm scared.

Every time I close my eyes I see him.

Smiling blue eyes, gravity defying blonde hair, a cocky attitude and a laugh that melts me.

All of these things make up the one I want.

The one my heart beats for.

The one I would give my life for.

The one they call Uzumaki Naruto.

I watch him everyday, masking my true feelings and hiding within myself.

We share tender moments, loving embraces and stolen kisses in the moonlight.

Fantasies.

That's all we share, for he is too perfect for me.

I will myself to be strong, so that I may tell him. Yet it is fear of rejection that holds me back.

I walk to my window and whisper my words, half hoping the winds will carry them to him.

"I love you Naruto, please love me back."

A thousand times I pray.

Hoping that Divine will bring his love to me.

I am but an undeserving mess.

Every time his gaze settles on me, my soul screams with anguish and my heart breaks a little. Because I've seen the way he looks at Sakura.

He graces her with looks that should settle on me.

She simply ignores them.

I want to scream at her for it.

How could she not see that he is truly great? That she holds his heart hostage, while mine slowly dies?

For this, I loathe her.

I walk to him, my nerves in awry and my feet move on instinct alone. He looks up at me with a small smile. One that would bring Angel's to their knees.

I speak in my usual soft tone. "Naruto, I need to speak with you."

He nods and we walk away together. We come to a stop in a place where we will not be disturbed.

He looks at me. "What did you want?"

I bite me lip. Now or never. "Naruto, I-I love you."

He smiles at me softly.

In one simple gesture, he destroyed me.

Naruto places a hand on my cheek. I waited with baited breath to hear rejection fall from his parted lips.

He kisses my lips tenderly, then places the smile back on. "I have waited so long for those words."

I have a smile of my own, and my world becomes brighter.

He pulls me close to him and whispers my name almost inaudibly.

"Sasuke."
