Kagome felt pain wash all over her. Naraku had the Shikon No Tama, and here InuYasha was, with Kikyo!

"Kikyo, I …want to go to hell with you," InuYasha said.

Kagome gasped. She watched Kikyo's face form a smile, one of which was rare. "Do you really mean it, InuYasha?" She asked.

"Yes, Kikyo. I…love you."

"InuYasha…" Kagome whispered.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to ever protect you from Naraku. I feel horribly stupid. I should've been watching you."

Kagome wanted to cry. She held her tears back best she could. Then, she reminded herself. Kikyo is from this time. I am not. Kikyo has every right to have InuYasha to herself and I do not.

"Kikyo, something feels…odd."

"Like what?" Kikyo asked.

"I…I…Don't know what it is. But it makes me feel…Kikyo, I can't go to hell with you."

"Why not, InuYasha?" Kikyo asked.

"I just can't!" InuYasha yelled.

InuYasha jumped away from Kikyo as she stared after him.

What is it? Kagome wondered. A feeling swept over her. She fell backwards and lost control throughout her body. She stared up into the trees above her. She tried her hardest to keep her eyelids open, but something shut them. She fell into a sleep.

Kagome ran from the village, and from the youkai who called herself 'Mistress Centipede'. She kept calling out something of a jewels presence. Kagome, now understanding everything, knew it was her she was after. But why did she keep running?

I have no arrows, nor a bow, Kagome thought. She kept running.

Kagome ran until she saw the sacred tree. The tree InuYasha was sealed to. She saw his peaceful face. But when she jumped up to pull Kikyo's arrow out, nothing happened. Mistress Centipede didn't even follow her here.

This is not how I remember, Kagome thought. Then another figure showed. It was a girl, who happened to be a year younger than Kagome. Kikyo. It was Kikyo.

Mistress Centipede pulled Kikyo onto the tree, next to InuYasha. InuYasha talked to Kikyo. He said she looked stupid the way she was and asked why she didn't finish off the centipede the way Kagome had finished him off.

"I am not Kagome!" Kikyo yelled. "I am Kikyo!"

Wait, this is all wrong! Kagome thought.

"If you're not Kagome, how can you smell so – you're not her."

This is everything he had said to Kagome.

"InuYasha…" Kagome said. No one could hear her. She felt completely heart-broken. InuYasha was looking at Kagome like she was Kikyo. They switched places. But how? All Kagome did was faint.

As Kagome left, she didn't see the wicked smile that flickered across Kikyo's face.
