The Objection

Prologue

The scenery was set. Thousands of people filled the auditorium to witness the marriage of Draco Malfoy and Cho Chang. The wedding was extravagant; everything was bathed in creams and golds, and specks of silver floated through the air. A glittering array of orchids, magnolias, roses, buttercups, and poppies filled giant vases to add to the beauty of the occasion. Everyone was dressed in either black or white at the request of the bride. Everyone, that is, except for the Maid of Honor, Ginny Weasley.

Her simple elegance and fresh face was something that she believed to melt her into the background, though everyone else knew that to be untrue. Her beauty was the human equivalent of Van Gogh's "Starry Night", hundreds of emotions inhabited her, and her face was the first peer you'd get into her soul. It was this that had most likely led the bride and groom to dress her in red, though nobody knew for sure. All anybody knew was that the dress matched Ginny unequivocally. The fabric was a satin that flowed with few folds to the ground. The neckline dipped and ruffled above her chest and clung tightly to her until it reached her hips. The bottom belled out and fell to the ground with simple grace that no other dress captivated. The final touches were the silver shooting stars that rested at the bottom of her dress.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here to day to witness the matrimony of Cho Chang and Draco Malfoy," Ginny clasped her hands behind her back and turned her gaze from Draco and Cho to the people, trying her best to keep tears from forming in her eyes. The last few months had caused a great change in her life. Not only did she stop hating Cho Chang, her nemesis, but she also came to admire Draco. "Before we proceed, does anyone object to this joining? Speak now or forever hold your peace."

Everyone's eyes darted around the room in search for where the feeble "I object" came from.
