Author's Note: I thought this would make sense. Btw, when the Yondaime trains his team, his team is around 12-13, while the Yondaime himself, and Shizune is 16-17.
Naruto arrives with Jiraiya at the bar, and they meet Tsunade and Shizune. Shizune and Tsunade are shocked by Naruto, who looks so much like him. Slowly, Tsunade holds Shizune's hand. Shizune then begins to drift off into memories...
Flashback
Two children stand at the Gates of Konoha. Two exceptional children. Both trained by sannin. One is blonde, with spiky unruly hair, the other is brunette with shoulder-length hair.
'Remember to come back, Shizune-chan!'
'I will!'
Tsunade calls her, telling her to hurry up, as she is already down the road. She runs. The yet-to-be 4th stands there. Waiting. A figure is directly above him, in the roof of the gatehouse. It's Jiraiya. He jumps down from the roof, landing right beside his student. He puts a hand on his shoulder, as a father would do to a son.
'You let her get away, just like I did with her.'
'It's okay. I'll see her again. I swear, I'll marry her one day.' The Pre-4th reassured himself.
'Okay...'
6 years later
Shizune in with Tsunade in a bar, gambling their wages off. Shizune sighs. This has been getting old. And she really wanted to return to Konoha to visit him, but Tsunade was still pained about returning there. Tsunade yells an "Oh no!". Startled, Shizune runs to Tsunade who was reading a newspaper.
'What's wrong?' asks Shizune
'The Kyuubi has attacked Konoha. What's worse, this newspaper is a week old, so I don't know what happened! We go their now!' said Tsunade, for Shizune's sake at least. Tsunade feels guilty, that if he died, Shizune wouldn't have been able to see him because Tsunade was too caught in the past. She didn't want Shizune to have a painful past. So they left.
And so they go there. Shizune has found out that the 4th Hokage died, protecting the village, by sealing it in a newborn baby. She smiles in admiration of the hero. Shizune then searches for him, her special friend. She goes to the bridge where they would meet( Incidentally, the yondaime uses this bridge when he trains Kakashi, Obito, Rin, as does Kakashi with Team 7). Jiraiya is standing there. He looks away, as if in regret. She walks up to him, afraid of what she might hear.
'Jiraiya-san, where is he?'
'He?'
Jiraiya looks in her eye, and can tell there's only one person she's talking about.
'Well, you see, a year ago, the Yondaime was being selected...'
As soon as he finished, Shizune's world came crashing down. She immediately left with Tsunade afterward. They didn't help rebuild, because it would have been too painful for Shizune.
