Better
Katie opened her eyes. A few seconds before she had been arguing with Leanne, an irresistible impulse driving her on a task that she knew nothing about and then everything had gone dark. She had heard concerned voices and then she had woken up. Here. Where the hell was here?
She looked around confused, she was lying on a bed and it certainly didn't look like anywhere in Hogsmeade. And her mum was sleeping in a chair in the corner of the strange room, looking even more exhausted than she normally did after a shift.
'Mum?', Katie's voice croaked from lack of use, 'Mum, where am I?'.
'Oh Katie, you're awake, thank Merlin.' Kathleen Bell jumped up and over to her daughter's bed and in a reassuring voice, started to fill her daughter in on the events of the past few months.
Katie was terrified to hear of Voldemort getting stronger, her family were known blood traitors and they had already suffered at his hands. And now apparently, whether directly or indirectly, Katy was his latest Bell victim. She felt weak, her long, lean limbs hadn't moved in months but Katy was determined to get better. She had to join the fight against the dark lord and that meant graduating from Hogwarts and following her mother's footsteps. Katy Bell was determined that in two year's time; she would qualify as an Auror.
