This is my first Doctor Who fanfic.

Disclaimer: None of this is mine

She was here. She was in his arms and all he could do was laugh and hug her to him tighter swinging her round as she moved her legs. After a few minutes of simply hugging she pulled back slightly to look at him carefully. She drew a hand across her eyes quickly to dispel the tears and then put her hands to his face. Just seeming to check that he really was him.

"I told you to bring it back in one piece" she said trying to smile

"I only lost the helmet" he said again trying to joke.

They stared at each other for a minute. She tried to think of a way to make light of the situation but she couldn't, she really couldn't. She had been so scared and from the look in his eyes she could tell that he had been too.

"I was so scared" she whispered looking at the suit rather than into his eyes "I thought I might have really lost you. I tried to stay I wanted to wait for you but they wouldn't let me"

He pulled her closer again her head against his shoulder as he gently let her down to the ground and held her tight. He buried his face in her hair and whispered

"It's ok, if they hadn't taken you, you would be…be…" he couldn't say it, couldn't even bring himself to think it.

She seemed to realise and hugged him arms slipping round his neck. They just stood holding each other again before he pulled back this time.

"I almost killed you Rose"

The way he said it made her want to cry it was so hopeless so flat. It sounded like he hated himself.

"I'm here" she said putting a hand to his face again "We're together and nothing can hurt us now"

"When I fell" he said "I wanted Ida to tell you something but I couldn't put it into words I couldn't say goodbye through another and…"

"I know" she said smiling "I know"

He leant down and rested his forehead against hers sighing slightly.

"I need you to know something" he said and their brown eyes locked "You are the most important thing to me nothing comes higher" he paused and looked at her "I need you to understand that. Down there it tried to make you the victim and you're never a victim. It used you against me to try and stop me destroying it but I know you and I know that you would always defeat the monsters"

"Doctor" she whispered "You are too"

He sighed and nearly smiled at her but couldn't manage it. It was all still too fresh in his mind, too close. She moved her head so that it was under his chin and he wrapped his arms around her. His Rose, the one thing he could believe in. The unspoken thing was quite fine, he could live with that as long as she knew.

He looked down at her and gently placed a kiss onto her hair. He heard her sigh and squeeze him a little tighter.

"I should get out of this suit" he said after about five minutes "It's beginning to dig into places it really shouldn't"

She chuckled lightly and let go of him slowly.

"I'll help you" she said making him turn around so she could start to undo it.

They got it off after struggling with it for a few minutes. After they had they just stared at each other. The Doctor put a hand up to her face and leant down slowly to kiss her forehead gently.

She smiled brilliantly and pulled his head down to do the same thing. They stood there by the edge of the console staring at each other for awhile before Zack's voice broke them out of their reverie, even if he wasn't speaking to them the Doctor knew it was time to go.

After saying their goodbyes and starting up the TARDIS, her hand slipped into his and all he could do was pull her closer and smile. She was there and he was going to make damn sure it stayed that way.

Then end
