A/N – Okay, so this is my first HSM fanfic published, so I'm dying to know what you think of it. If it doesn't really make sense in the beginning just wait, you'll see the point. It's just a little idea I've had in my head for a while, so read, review, enjoy.
Jessica had been working all night and as she was finishing drying cups she turned on the television. It wasn't against the working rules since there was no one in the room but her.
The MTV news had just appeared as her boss Sam walked in.
"Are you closing up alone?" Sam asked her.
"Yeah, I let Kim and Lisa go," she replied, setting a cup down.
"Need some help?" he asked.
"Sure," she said, "I'm beat and I just wanna go home and sleep."
"I know what you mean," he laughed.
Two familiar faces appeared on the screen when Sam was sitting down to help her dry. Troy and Gabi, a singing duo that Jessica liked… along with most of America. They had become very popular in the past few years.
"Yes we are finally getting married," Gabriella told the reporter.
"How long have you two known each other?" the reporter asked.
"Ten years this New Years' Eve," Gabriella replied.
"That exact date?" the reporter asked. "Everyone knows your high school story, but how did you two meet exactly?"
"It's an interesting story, actually," Gabriella chuckled. "We were randomly chosen to do karaoke at this ski lodge on New Years' Eve and we had to sing together." She went on to tell how she was transferred to his school after the break, and went into their infamous high school musical story when Sam interrupted.
"Did they say this couple sings?" he asked, squinting at the screen.
"Yeah," Jessica replied. Her boss was so out of the times. "Troy and Gabi… haven't you heard of them? They sing that song Breaking Free… they're really good."
He shrugged, still squinting at the screen. It went on to show a picture of Gabriella and Troy in high school. Sam smiled.
"One last question for you," the reporter said. "What song will you play first at your wedding?"
"The Start of Something New," Gabriella said without hesitation.
By this time Jessica was putting on her coat, scarf, and gloves, heading towards the door. It was chilly in Colorado, especially at the base of the Rockies where the ski lodge was located.
"And why that song?" the reporter asked.
"It was the first song we ever sang together," Gabriella said simply.
"Well thank you for your time, we look forward to the wedding."
"As do I," Gabriella said, "And thanks to all who have made our relationship possible."
And as Jessica opened the door she heard Sam chuckle and say, "I knew they'd thank me."
A/N – Okay, so did it suck? Was it good? I won't know unless you tell me, so that little button below here… click it. Thank you for reading.
